The Highway

This is a poem about a girl who's trying to get to her destination, but encounters a highway that puts her to the test. Try and guess what my poem is symbolizing and tell me in the comments please! I would love to here everyone's interpretation!

I want to shout and scream,
Throw a tantrum, or beat a wall,
To howl and wail to the  world around,
About the bumps on the highway.
When the car's tank was full of fuel,
The road seemed so smooth, so straight,
With not a single pebble to halt my ride,
Or another car to slow me down,
To the fruitful fields; the colours of turquoise and gold.
But as the journey began, the mirage soon faded,
Speed breakers emerged at each metre,
Causing me to jump to the beat of the radio's tune.
Cars joined in through narrow lanes,
Soon ahead of me, driving with pure uncertainty,
Wondering where they were headed,
By the end of the long highway.

The tank was now half empty,
Yet the breakers grew taller,
And the cars slowed down further,
While the radio grew louder,
Causing my nerves to soon grow shorter.
The highway is a straight path,
I whined in between the buzzing of my car's impatient horn.
But nothing changed by my grumbling,
But instead grew worse,
As now ominously dark clouds approached,
Dropping their load upon the Earth,
As lightning struck the tree in the plot at the side of the highway.
Cars turned back, sliding all over the place,
And a loud voice whispered to me,
Come home and forget,
this pointless place that you are chasing.
My grip on the steering wheel loosened,
While my muscles relaxed,
And heartbeat slowed.
Everything willed me to stop and turn,
But my soul reminded me to hold on;
To hold on to the dreams I have,
To hold on to my past memories,
To hold on to the path ahead of me,
To hold on to the faith I have in me.

The tank was now empty,
As my eyes fluttered open,
To see wispy cream clouds,
Through which the sun shined,
Down on the land where everything was turquoise and gold.
The highway tried to defeat me,
To dishearten me and send me home,
To create the emotion of regret and envy.
It nearly succeeded in blotting out the light,
But my soul urged me on,
To finish the journey I had started,
And to allow the sun's rays,
To shine down on the world again.
