Life.

Life.
Bursting with ups and downs,
Wavering like the anticlines and synclines deep underground.
Ever changing as man's emotions,
A new light at every turn,
With a lingering shadow in return.

It rises and falls,
As waves clash against the rocky walls,
It allows us to smile,
Yet reminds us grieve.
It pins us with decisions,
Of right and wrong,
With no hint at all of what,
Your choice will bring to the world.

It wants us to aim for the bullseye,
But only gives us a one dart attempt.
It won't try to stop you from quiting,
Yet it will always give you the chance for success.

It will drop the small sky of your world
On your head,
And bring you crystals,
Of rage and pain,
From the heartache,
Of all those moments,
you knew you could have done better.

Its memory sharp as a spear,
Does not forget,
To test your mettle in every direction;
Your ability to forgive,
To sacrifice yourself to protect another,
To choose between right or wrong,
To label a person as a friend or foe.
To choose between war or peace,
And to care about others,
The way you care about yourself.

Life.
Bursting with ups and downs,
Wavering like the anticlines and synclines deep underground.
Ever changing as man's emotions,
A new light at every turn,
A lingering shadow in return.
A hefty burden to carry alone,
Yet the greatest thing of all.
