We're not just friends

(Andrey's pov)

"WAKE UP RUBLEV", Vincente banged on the door.

"I'm already awake" I groaned, still in bed and pulled the covers over my naked upper body. I rubbed my eyes and then grabbed my phone inside the blanket.

I had dreamt of her again. When she had said back in Austria that no matter what she will be there for me, it scared me. I was so in love with her, I didn't even know how I'd live if she ever left me. There is something I want to tell her and not over the phone.

It's been fifty three days since Austria. Usually I would wake up to her calls. We were in different time zones, so many a times it would be night for her and morning for me. She would fall asleep talking to me on face time. It was adorable.

Some days we couldn't call, so we would text or send voice notes. Even though we were apart because of the distance, I always feel close to her and I've only fallen deeper in love with her. We talk a lot, last night at dinner Vincente was scolding me because I kept texting Bailey as if I was a teenager. Though he doesn't know that I'm talking to her, no one does. We're just friends after all. She makes me smile at my phone like an idiot.

But she didn't call this morning, I wonder if everything is okay. I open my phone to see a text from Bailey.

Good morninggg! Sorry I couldn't call. All the best for your match today!! I'll be cheering for you don't tell Domi though ;) Proud of you no matter the result <3 xx

Something was definitely up, Bailey doesn't text like this, it's not her style. Maybe I'm just overthinking. I switch off my phone and get out of bed. Today was going to be a very busy day. I was playing the finals today of (tournament of your choice) against Dominic Thiem. It's always difficult playing against a friend.

I was going to practice in the morning a little and relax before the match, which was in the evening.

"ANDREY RUBLEV"

I heard my name and walked out onto the court. I looked around the stadium, it looked absolutely packed. There were so many people. I glanced at my box, My team and a childhood friend from back home, Angel were sitting there.

GAME.SET.MATCH.RUBLEV. I made the sign of the cross, like I do after every match win and fell to the ground. I did it, I won the match in an epic five setter. 6-3, 4-6, 5-7, 6-2, 2-6. The trophy ceremony, they first called Dominic to speak, "First off all, Congratulations to Andrey and his team, he has an amazing team. It was a great match and he played really well. I'm just glad to be back on the courts and especially happy that I got to play in this beautiful city".

"Thank you Dominic" The lady then turned to me, "A few words from our champion this evening"

"I don't know what to say, I'm so happy. I'm really inspired by Dominic's run here in the tournament. Amazing comeback from his injury. The first tournament he played after his recovery and he reached the finals. He is an inspiration." I waited for the applause to die down, "I want to thank everyone in my team, my coach, my physio, my agent, everyone that I'm forgetting. All of you work really hard. It's thanks to you I am here today holding this trophy. Thank you everyone here for your support and also those who are watching at home."
