Diamond's POV
•
I wake up with a banging headache. I didn't see James ever since we went our separate ways to drive to the photoshoot. He never picked up either. I got a few blocked number calls though, but I doubt that was James. My legs swing over the side of my bed and I stand up with dizziness. My eyes are aching and my head is killing me. I barely got any sleep. I take my bath towel and shuffle over to the bathroom. Thoroughly, I brush and shower. As I head back over to my room, I hear my mom downstairs. Moving around the kitchen cooking whatever she decided to make this morning. I don't bother to try to make out what it is that she is cooking, I just continue shuffling back to my room. I throw on an outfit, not really even in the mood to look perfect. I'm wearing red shorts, a white sweater crop top, and my white converse. I just put on mascara and lip gloss for makeup. I grab my stuff and I'm out.
"Hey, Mom," I utter.
"Hey, baby," she responds. "Did, uh, James call you yet?"
I shake my head. She purses her lips and looks like she wish she didn't ask. I wish she didn't ask too. I can barely eat. I just shove the food around until I can't stand the silence anymore. When it is finally unbearable, I rush out the door. I try to get to Destiny's house as fast as possible. The more time I take, the more time I have to jump to conclusions about James. Destiny is already waiting on her porch by the time I get there. Last night, the first thing I did once I got home was call Destiny and we spent almost 4 hours on the phone talking about what happened. I hope she doesn't bring up the topic.
"Hey," she says.
"Hey," I reply.
She walks over to me and we start our stroll to the school. Doesn't take to long to get there. I forget to reply to Destiny as she walks away to her locker because I am to busy checking around for James. To my surprise he isn't waiting for me by my locker. Panic fills me up. Chilllll, Diamond, chillll. I jump when someone wraps around me from the back. The panic is gone. I turn around.
"Where were you yesterday!? I waited for you for hours! I called you like 200 times! Do you know how worried I was," I ramble.
"My, uh, car broke down. Nothing to worry about," James says.
I don't know if he is lying, but he looks super freaked out.

James's POV
•
I search her eyes for any sign of disbelief. I did tell her the truth. I just didn't tell her all of it. I don't see any disbelief, I only see worry in her eyes. I want to tell her about the girl getting shot and how she was rushed to the hospital, even though she was surely dead even before she got halfway to the hospital. It has been freaking me out ever since, but I couldn't get the words out even if I tried to tell her. The worry in her eyes is killing me though.
"Why didn't you pick up your phone. Why didn't you call me back?"
I try to smile, but the horror of last night is pulling on the sides of my lips.
"I lost my phone... I tried to call you on a different phone, though, but you never picked up," I defend.
"Oh, we're you the blocked number," she asks.
"Maybe."
"Oh okay. Wait, why was the number blocked?"
"Uh..."
