The Children of Light

Chapter 6 -Kiara-

        I had awakened to find a boy next to me. I wasn't sure what to do so I sat next to him and waited for him to get up. I stared at his face while he slowly breathed. Awwww, he's just so cute. I wonder if he has a girlfriend. I blushed just thinking about it and tried to get the thought out of my mind.

        I heard a rustle and I looked up from my thoughts. A mix of light blue and dark green eyes stares back at me. His eyes were so cute and seemed to change shades of color as i watched emotions flither through his face. He finally seemed to get his bearings. He started acting cold towards me and asked a question that got on my nerves. I just had to prick him with my sarcasm. Now there was just a cold silence between us. Suddenly a loud voice boomed out around us and broke the silence.

        “You children are so silly. Seeing you two bickering like fools when your parents are in need of you seem very childish. You two will need to grow up if you want any hopes of saving your parents.”

        I couldn’t see anyone so I was surprised but I instantly put on my best pokerface. Well, there’s one word, magic.

        “Well madam,” I started sarcastically. “It’ll be nice if you actually talked to us formally instead of being concealed by magic.”

        “Right?” muttered the hot-headed boy next to me.

        The mysterious female’s voice tinkled with laughter, and she replied sounding really amused, “Did you think the enemy would appear right next to you and have a calm little meeting with you with tea included?”

        “Maybe.” I muttered.

        “Well, maybe you should just get it over with and tell me what you want before you waste anymore of my time. And while you're at it also tell me who the crap this girl next to me is.”

        I felt really offended and said, “Yea explain that and also explain who the crap is this boy that acts like a stupid idiot 24/7.”

        I can feel his glare on my back but I ignored it.

        The voice laughed once again and said, “You two are a very humorous couple. Ah..yes, yes. I will answer all your questions in due time. Alright this is actually very simple. You two are allies and are suppose to help each other. Staying together will give you a better chance of saving your parents.”

        “Well, how would I know if your telling me the truth?” the boy said angrily.

        “The truth about what?” the voice asked.

        “Is this girl next to me really my ally because I don’t think having her with me will help at all. Also this could be a trap for all I care.” he said with an annoyed voice.

        I sighed and ignored the feeling of rejection.

        “It’s a choice you both will have to make. Either you can be allies or not. Simple as that. Both of you have parents that are in trouble. You two being allies will be none of my concern. All I am doing here is to inform you. You can believe me or not. That’s all.”

        I sighed heavily and turned to the boy next to me.

        “We are in the same situation ok. I’m not lying when I say my parents have been taken by whoever this person is that’s talking to us. I really want to be allies. I really do not want us both to both fail because of our choices.”

        “Alright, I’ll think about it later.” he mumbled distractedly.

        “My time is up with you two. I can’t stay any longer.” the voice said and two sheets of paper fluttered onto the ground, each one in front of us.

        The boy yelled,“What, NO, you said you were going to answer ALL of our questions!”

        He said what I was going to say so I stayed silent radiating controlled anger.

        “You two are idiots, just figure it all by yourselves.” the voice retorted before disappearing to who knows where.

        An awkward silence began to fill the air. I figured I should get started started and not waste anymore more time by reaching for the papers in front of me…
