"Enter!"

The door slid open to reveal a tall tan skinned male Yautja with green spots speckling his skin. He wore his dreads down, the black tendrils decorated with a few metal bands here and there in various colors. His golden eyes were piercing as he strode into Leoni and I's quarters. This Yautja was leaner than I but just as muscled, despite his specialty in medicine.

With a respectful brief bow of the head, Kar'tuk, the clan's chief medic, surveyed the room briefly before his golden gaze landed on my mate who gave him a shy smile. She lifted her hand in the ooman gesture of "Hello".

"Drogaxe. Mate of Drogaxe." He nodded in a silent greeting to Leoni before turning his attentions to myself, "I have brought the necessary equipment and per your request I brought Mira with me."

"Good. Thank you, mei'hswei, brother."

Kar'tuk nodded as he walked to the eating area to set up the necessary equipment. A small figure appeared in the doorway, apprehension on her dark face. She was beckoned inside, the door closing behind her, by Kar'tuk. "Hello, I'm Mira. You must be Leoni and Drogaxe." The ooman has a slight accent making her words lilt.

Leoni slowly sat up in the bed with large watery eyes, "A human! Hi!"

With surprising speed, and forgetting her headache for a moment it seemed, I watched as my mate flew from the bed to throw her arms around Mira. She almost knocked over the taller woman, her long dark braids flying about as she dug in her heels so she didn't fall to the floor from the impact. I chuckled as I stood to join Kar'tuk at the eating table. He had laid out various equipment.

"Leoni. Come." I beckon her forward with a curl of my hand. Reluctantly she peeled herself away from the fellow ooman and came to sit in the chair I pulled out for her. Mira joined her in the seat next to her, her dark eyes shining with happiness.

"What's all this? I only have a hangover. A killer one at that."

"You need shots to live on home-world. There are potential illnesses that your body is not prepared for. Unlike Yautja, oomans become ill." Kar'tuk calmly informed Leoni, his hands pushing the equipment closer so she can see it up close.

Her little hands inspected the cool silvery tool used to inject the shots, a larger version of the syringe Yautja keep in their medi-kit when on a Hunt. A golden fluid was inside the glass-like tube that the device housed.

"You're gonna need that, Leoni. Trust me. They can't get sick but we humans can. It doesn't hurt." Mira assured, a gentle smile on her round face.

"I am right here, my mate." Giving her a gentle squeeze of the shoulder, I rubbed my fingers in gentle circles as Kar'tuk readied the injector.

"I really hate shots!" My little mate squeezed her eyes shut.

"You will not feel a thing, mate of Drogaxe." My clan's medic assured her once more.

Just as I assured, the process was quickly over and another injection given to alleviate her hangover. Kar'tuk and I joined the women at the table while the females talked to each other excitedly.

I felt pleased that my mate met the other ooman in our clan, the first. The prior day before training the youths, I had asked Kar'tuk to bring his mate Mira by to help Leoni feel more comfortable. With someone of her own species around she relaxed in a way I felt jealous of, but I knew there was no kinship like being with one's own species. I watched as she perked up, her ache going away thanks to Yautjan superior medical technology.

She looked happy to be talking with another female. I quickly noticed that they got along as if they had known each other all of their lives.

Their species was interesting.
