(Thing written for class. Honestly one of the best stories I've written. Probably. Definitely my favorite.)
Tw:Bullying (tell me if there are any others!)
Christopher was slammed into the faded blue lockers and collapsed onto the floor groaning. "You gonna go cry to mommy? Oh wait!" The group of girls howled in laughter. The blond boy stood up slinging his bag's straps over his
shoulder."Why don't you ladies find something better to do?" Christopher snapped at them as he strided away. The head of the group, Heather, came up to him. She grabbed the collar of his hoodie and yanked up down. He could smell all the perfume on her.
"Where are you going? Breaking another girl's heart?" Heather had a wicked smile on her face but her ocean blue eyes burned with hatred.
"I just said I wasn't interested. Plus don't you have a boyfriend already? Hugo was it?" Heather huffed and let Christopher go. "Thanks. Now don't attack me again while I'm trying to send a note."
Christopher held the red note he had shaped into a heart. He wasn't sure when he and his note buddy decided to keep the heart note thing going. But whoever they were seemed nice. As he got to the doors of the school an unfamiliar boy stepped in front of him. Judging by his looks he was one of the football players. One year ahead of Christopher. He unlike the other football players he had met looked about as dumb as a brick. "Hey! I heard you were hitting on my girl! Just because you're popular doesn't mean you can just date whoever you want." The boy's brown, angry eyes were locked with Christopher's green, confused eyes.
"What's your girl's name, dare I ask?" Christopher asked. The Boy huffed and looked like he was ready to punch Christopher straight in the face.
"Heather. So you're gonna stop trying to get with her or what?" Christopher's face twisted in even more confusion.
"So you're Hugo? Sorry it looked like that man. I rejected her a while back and now she hates me. Glad you have trust in her though." He stepped past Hugo to head over to the giant maple down the
road.Christopher looked up at the tree. It had an almost sweet smell. Paper hearts covered the tree's branches.
Christopher took out the heart he had and taped a red ribbon on it. He glanced over to see a gold ribbon on another one. This tree was used to trade notes with his buddy. Neither of them knew who each other was but that didn't matter. Close to the beginning of the note trading they said for each new one they would put a certain color of ribbon on it. Red was for Christopher and gold was for the other student. Nobody else in town knew who kept putting hearts on the tree but nobody took down the hearts either. Turns out people loved to read the notes to try to connect them. He saw some girls around the tree looking through some notes. Christopher snuck the note onto the tree and took the gold ribbon note. The note read I think I'm going to marry you. Christopher chuckled as he put the note back onto the tree.
Christopher made his way back to the doors. The swim team was having a tournament today. The team captain, Henry, was pretty popular too. Silky brown hair, silver eyes you could get lost in, and he was very athletic. He knew full well that Henry was far more popular than him. Christopher had blond messy hair, emerald green eyes, and was on the running team.
When Christopher got to the pool area he saw Heather and Hugo. He sat next to them and smiled. Not the kind of 'I came here to annoy you' smile but a 'Hey sorry about earlier' smile.
"Hey you two. Came to watch too?" Christopher said gleefully.
"Yeah. Came here to see the pretty girls?" Heather snarled.
"Nah. I came here to see the captain. I heard he's a cool guy." He turned to look out at the diving board. "What about you Hugo? Came here to see him too?"
Hugo stayed quiet. That was fine by Christopher. He didn't need to talk. The three of them cheered when Henry came onto the diving board. He had been in multiple swim teams before he came to this school.
The show was awesome! Everyone did so well! Hugo, Heather, and Christopher talked about how amazing they were. They laughed. "It was really nice to talk to you guys!"
"Yeah! Sorry about being such a jerk to you. Can we still be friends? You're actually a really cool guy." Heather asked.
"Of course."
Christopher went back outside to the maple. He managed to spot Henry reading a book while leaning on the tree. He looked up and smiled at Christopher then patted the grass next to him. Christopher obliged without thinking and sat next to him smiling. He pulled his own book out of his bag to read. He liked this. Most people think all popular kids do is gossip with one another. Sometimes that is true. Not Christopher and Henry though. They had talked a few times but mostly just sat together without saying a word.
"I saw you cheering for me. Thank you." Henry muttered. He looked up at Christopher, "I was really worried about it but once I saw you there I felt really relaxed." Henry looked back down at his book. Christopher was shocked.
"Did you think I would miss the tournament one of my buds was in? I'll always be there to cheer you on. Unless I'm doing a tournament myself."
"Nope you still have to come. No exceptions."
"Ugh Henry..."
"I'm kidding. I'll just skip mine and come over to yours!""HENRY! NO!"
Henry laughed. Christopher laughed with him. It wasn't common for either of them to laugh but here they were practically dying of laughter. After they caught their breaths they went back to reading. But this time both had a wide grin on their faces.
995 words. (Not including side notes) I really need to improve.
