Chapter 13

Chapter 13: The hits just keep on coming

Dani stops snarling at the man that just hurt her Moony. Growling low in her chest with her hackles still raised, her eyes quickly darted to the man that was now kneeling in front of her. Staring at the man that looks sort of familiar the growls slowly stop as she tries to remember the man.

Tom sees the confusion in his god-daughter eyes, slowly reaches his hand forward as if to caress her face only to see Dani flinch and the growling starts anew. Confused by what just happened Tom looks to the unconscious person on their front porch only to recognize the man as Remus. 

 "Severus," Tom calls out softly as to not startle Dani even more. "Could you perhaps wake Remus seeing as I do not have my wand at the moment?"

Severus comes out of his shock as he hears his husband's voice. "Remus? What do you... Oh, Merlin, Moony I am so sorry. Rennervate." Casting the counterspell to end Moony's abrupt sleep, only causing Dani to begin again with snarling and growling causing saliva to begin to pool in her mouth overflowing and heading toward the ground.

Startling awake for the second time today, Remus jumps once again at hearing the vicious snarling. "Oh, Merlin's balls!" He shouts, only for the wolf to stop completely and give a wolfish grin and pounce on him, licking his face and covering him in slobber. "Severus!" Moony shouts, "Call off your wolf!" Upon hearing this Dani immediately calms and just sits on Remus happy that he is once again awake.

Confused, about everything that has happened here Severus replies, "It is not my wolf, Moony, she arrived with you and has almost attacked me twice. I highly doubt that it will listen to me." 

Not liking that the black-haired man was calling her it, Dani shifts back to her human form. "I am not an it!" She shouts at the man, "I am a girl and my name is Dani." 

Shocking both Severus and Moony as she turns back. Having said her piece Dani nods her head sharply once and turns to Moony asking her questions. "Moony, are you okay? That man just attacked you!" She recalls becoming upset while pointing at Severus, "Are you hurt? Do you need help? Is there anything I can do?" 

Remus, still completely in shock from watching his best friend's daughter, shift from the gigantic wolf from earlier to the little girl that looks remarkably like Lily, eloquently responds with "What?"

Tom comes out of his shock first, "Perhaps, we should take this inside. I believe Remus has some explaining to do."

Remus snaps out of his surprise, "I'm not sure how much I can explain Tom. Speaking of Tom, how are you even alive?"

Shrugging his shoulders Tom replies, "Let's go inside and see if we can find some answers together. Like how is Dani with you and where have you two been hiding?" 

Offering his hand to Dani first to help her off the ground and then to Remus. Once they were all standing Severus finally snapped out of his shock-induced silence only to head back into his home and toward the foyer and took a seat on his favorite chair. Tom sits at the second air chair next to Severus leaving the love seat for Dani and Remus.

It is completely quiet for a few minutes with the three men gathering their thoughts on what has happened recently with Dani warily watching both Tom and Severus while also looking around the room. 

"Honestly, Remus I have no clue how I am alive. Tom Begins to explain, "The last thing I remember is fighting with Dumbledore in Godric's Hollow, I died throwing myself in front of a killing curse meant for Dani."

"Snakey," Dani says quietly, "it's okay Uncle Tom I can explain. I remember, The old man with the white beard he left after the explosion that green light caused hitting you. Then Padfoot ran into the room after I was alone for a while, He grabbed me out of the crib and was taking me out of the house when he suddenly stopped and the Old man was there he said "Give me Daniella, Sirius." and Padfoot just handed me over and then he just turned and ran down the street. He did something weird and it felt like I was being squished into a straw and then he said a bunch of weird things and then just put me on the porch and in the morning Petunia found me."
