Chapter 15

"In order to decide what's going to happen now, we need to verify facts of the matter." Yoongi speaks a suddenly formal tone.

"So let's review everything then." Yoongi gestures toward JungKook. "You are here to..."

JungKook's head hangs and he avoids looking at Taehyung. There is a gentle squeeze on his hand which gives him the confidence to speak. Will Taehyung forgive me? JungKook thinks only to realise that that single question is the most important thing to him right now.

"I- I came to ruin and debase the angel so that he couldn't go back to Heaven."

JungKook can't even say Taehyung's name, he feels so embarrassed -a feeling he is not familiar with. Normally he is proud of his sexual conquests to the point of bragging on about them... but he doesn't feel proud about this one.

"And Taehyung?" Hoseok asks, his voice a little sharper than Taehyung is used to -certainly no longer his usual sunny self.

Taehyung can't help but to wonder if Hoseok is disappointed in him -he's always helped Taehyung so much during the years and he has always been the one who has stood by him throughout all the nonsense the other angels were making him go through.

Taehyung gulps, wondering how much JungKook already knows about his task.

Hanging his head, Taehyung starts mumbling:

"In order to gain my seat in the Higher Courts in Heaven I am to spend seven days on Earth as a human without committing sins or breaking Heaven's rules." JungKook also squeezes his hand gently.

"Is that something that you feel you've succeeded in doing, Taehyung?" Yoongi asks with a constant, small smirk on his face.

Taehyung shakes his head slowly, back and forth.

"No."

His voice is small before he lifts his head and says it again, louder this time, his eyes burning: "No. I haven't succeeded but I have never before been this happy to fail!" He sits right up, onto his knees and his chest heaving, Taehyung spurts out more angry words:

"Why is this, what we have here, a sin at all? Why should humans and demons get all the pleasure? Why are angels denied all this... happiness? How could we possibly be any good at judging human actions when we have no idea why humans do anything!!?" Taehyung shakes after his outburst and welcomes the arms pulling him back against the Incubus.

Yoongi chuckles, shaking his head as if Taehyung's meltdown was that of a toddler. He looks at Hoseok and nods toward the youngsters.

Hoseok takes a few skittish steps around the room, rubbing his chin, deliberating. When he finally decides to speak, he looks directly at Taehyung.

"Well... the thing is, Taehyung, you haven't really committed any sins because you two are married -well, for all intents and purposes -I mean it's arguable but I could make it stand upstairs if I had to argue the point." Hoseok babbles and Yoongi rolls his eyes again.

He cuts in with: "However. There's a problem."

After a tiny moment of hopeful joy, the room is suddenly filled with complete silence.

"Obviously sex within a marriage is not a sin, even for an angel who has been sent down from Heaven -as long as it's for a mission and under the guidance of a supervisor- and in an artificial environment such as this..." Hoseok nods in agreement when Yoongi continues.
