As my gaze never leaves Robins face, and she looks she's about to cry, Harry looks confused. Like, extremely confused.
"You guys know each other?"
"No," I hear Robin answer sarcastic, but with a slight tremble. I see her mouth move and I feel myself grow warmer in my cheeks. "He just happens to know my name. because there are so many Robins in this town."
"But.. how? And why do you look you're about to cry?"
Ha. Something I would like to know as well.
"Well, he came to the café, he was the worst customer everything, he tried to hit on me, the end."
"That is NOT how it went,' I say, finding my voice. I point at her, looking at Harry for support. "You were like the shittiest barista. Your coffee was the worst."
"Elliot, you don't drink coffee," the two voices say in sync.
"Well," I say, not going to lose this, "maybe that's why it was so.. shitty..?"
It is quiet for some seconds. Then both of them start laughing. "God Elliot," Harry screams in between his very feminine giggles, "Your comebacks are so bad!"
"It's surely not one of my many talents," I say, "Never said it was though."
"Well you guys," Harry says. "As I hear it, you two should make this a thing."
Both mine and Robin's head snaps to Harry. "What did you just say?" Robin asks with burning red cheeks.
"Robin, you're the first girl to be rude at Elliot." I shrug as Robin looks at me with raised brows. It is true. "And you, Elliot," Harry turns to me, "are the first boy to call Robin shitty." Now it's Robin's turn to shrug. I feel like being rude to Robin is an achievement. It sure wasn't easy.
"So, as I was saying," Harry says, digging in his pocket and then handing me some money. "You two should go drink something from me and then, you make this a thing."
I look at the money and then my gaze moves to Robin, who's smiling at me.
"Harry," she says, "not to be rude and all, but that's not even enough for one drink." I smile widely. She's coming. She's drinking something with me. I raise my hand. "I can pay. I have some cash."
"Yeah girl," Harry points to Robin, "the boy can pay. Have you seen the guy's house? It's gigantic."
"Yes, I've seen the boy's house. Actually, I even have seen the bed." She winks at Harry, whose mouth is wide open at this point. I shake my head.
"We fell asleep, man, nothing happened."
"I hope so, for you!" Harry shakes his head. "The girl is special."
Robin raises her eyebrows. She giggles, and I tremble under the cuteness of this sound. I smile at Harry. "Yes, she is. And now, I will take this special girl for a drink. So, please, excuse us."
As I stick out my hand, Robin's fingers close around mine.
Harry says his goodbyes- bear hug included —and closes the shop up as we leave. With her hand still in mine, Robin turns to me.
