Chpt. 2 Perspectives

After sitting for some time in her room reading, although not really all that long, Proxima looked up sharply as she heard Draconis shouting.

She didn't know what he had said, but she closed her book and got up, quickly going out of her room and entering into the small living space, just for their family, to find both Birana and Draconis glaring at each other angrily.

They both turned to her as soon as she appeared, surprised, apparently having forgotten she was there. Upon realizing they'd been fighting, Proxima frowned, straightening and crossing her arms. "Care to explain?" She asked. They knew she did not like it when they fought, and every time they did, she chewed at them for it.

"Your mother and I were... discussing what to do with our supposed pursuits of peace, Proxima." Her father said, pointedly speaking calmly.

"That wasn't a very long talk to their king then. How did it go?" Proxima asked.

Birana's face twisted into a snarl as she said, "Put simply, he threatened- no, promised- to kill all three of us, and then give Alpha to his own son to keep as a pet on a leash."

Proxima felt her own hatred and rage flair up, imagining that. Apparently, her expression told them both that based on their reactions.

"We are discussing possible plans of battle." Draconis said.

"All of which will end with Hasion dead." Birana added.

Calming herself, Proxima had to forcibly inhale, saying, "It would be wise for all three of us to simply calm down first, I think, and not make any rash decisions. While he may have been honest with you- I can't imagine he wouldn't be, being a Torhindrin, I still think it would be best to think first. If he is trying to provoke us, then he will already be prepared, and we will not."

Birana sighed, as did Draconis, both nodding. "You are right, as we both know... we are just venting our frustration at the moment..."

Proxima regarded him with a flat expression. "Should we tell Alpha any of this?"

"No." Birana said sharply. "Do not do that."

"Figured. What if he asks what they said?" Proxima asked.

"Then you tell him you do not know, and then let us handle it." Birana said.

"But I do know, and I refuse to lie to him."

"But you don't know what was said, only the summarization of it, so it's not lying." The Queen said, settling it.

Proxima merely rolled her eyes, saying, "Very well, I'll play the game..."

Draconis shook his head at his wife and his daughter, saying, "Proxima, it would make him sad if he knew there was no peace, much more so it might make him a little afraid if he knew what Hasion said about him. Just find a way to not tell him."

Proxima conceded, nodding her agreement. "Yes; I'll admit that. Fine, I will keep silent." She looked at a clock on the wall, reading the time as 13 o'clock, out of the 16 hours in a standard day, meaning it was three hours before midnight. "Plus, I have somewhere to be, actually."

"Oh do you?" Birana asked, sounding both intrigued and suspicious.

Proxima frowned at her apparent distrust, replying, "Yes. And no, not with Crassel. I have more friends than just him you know."
