– seasons apart.

i tasted summer on your tongue,
as your words had me melt with their warmth,
you said you loved me.

i saw winter in your eyes,
as you had me believe your lies,
you said you'd never lie.

i heard the winds of autumn whoosh past my ears,
as you whispered in my ears your promises,
you said i was the only one.

and then,
and then.

like every fall of a season,
like every goodness of a bye,
like every wilt of a flower,
like every whither of a leave,
like every drop of melting ice;

you let go of me.

i fell.

i bloomed.

for your fall had been my spring,
for we were seasons apart.
