[KIRAN POV]

My hands were completely frozen while anxiously gripping the phone and my heart was racing as I watched the little 'typing' chat bubble.

It stopped for a moment, then picked right back up again. Even Dean had pulled the car over to wait and see Roman's response.

"What? Is my guy writing an essay or something?? Say something already!" He was getting impatient.

The chat bubble stopped once again.

"I don't think he's going to respond..."

"He's fuckin' playin' around too much. What the fuck was that?"

"Ugh...he just left me on read." I dropped my phone in my lap and turned to Dean.

"It's okay Kiran, we said we'll try and we'll keep trying, I promise." He gently squeezed my shoulder.

I felt tears roll down my cheeks as I stared at my phone, hoping he replies back just once.

"Hey, come on...don't do that. I promise we'll get him back. Don't cry over this, please?" Dean thumbed away my tears and leaned in to hug me. He rested his cheek on the top of my head and held me for a while until I calmed down.

"It just feels like I can't breathe, like the tide is getting higher and higher. Until I hear from him, it's going to feel like I'm holding my breath."

"I know Kiran, I know. But you have to remember, you're not alone in this. I'm here with you and I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to talk to Hunter to see if he can match up our schedules so you don't have to travel alone."

"Thanks Dean..."

We headed back to the motel after a long day. Dean was exhausted and laid back on the couch, leaving the bed open for me. Roman's thoughts kept me awake for a while. Only one day had gone by without Roman but it felt a lot longer. I was going to find a way to talk to Roman, even if it meant having to talk to him while at work.

The next day...

Dean was awake before me and had coffee and bagels waiting by my bedside. He was busy playing a game on his phone when I got up to see what he was doing.

"Sonic? Really?"

"Yeah, just about to reach the bossman level if I can keep my rings."

"You have fun with that." I laughed as I walked off to the bathroom.

As I returned, Dean was slumped back on the couch looking slightly annoyed. I sat back on the bed and grabbed my bagel and coffee.

"What happened to you?" I asked while taking a bite of my cream cheese bagel.

"I don't wanna talk about it." He moped.

"Did you lose your game?"

He threw a dirty look, making me crack up. Dean was one of the funniest people I knew, not to mention the craziest. There was no guessing what he'd do or come up with at the drop of a hat. He walked over and stretched himself across the bed next to me.

"Has Roman texted you back yet?"

"Nope. I think once we have solid answers for him, he'll be more inclined to listen to us."

"Okay, so lets figure this shit out right now. And I'm going to write everything down so we can really pick this apart. Let's see here...we had the breakfast incident, the dog tag, and the lingerie, right?"

"Mhmm...the dog tag was first."

"Okay so tell me exactly what happened that night. Try to recall every detail you possibly can." He turned over and had his notes app open on his phone while leaning on his elbows.
