"Hey Sofia come down " my mom shouted and I ran downstairs quickly grabbing all my stuff.
I'm Sofia , a 19 year old girl , I live with my small family - my mom Maria and my step dad Stephen. I don't appreciate my step dad a lot , maybe it's because he beats my mom for every little mistake she does.
My real father died in a car accident 10 years ago and then my mom got married to Stephen , just to give me everything and a father . She doesn't have any kid with Stephen and some days I think that Stephen doesn't even love my mom or maybe he's cheating on my mom. Well I don't like to get involved in my family matters but my mom always told me how important it is to be financially independent for a women . If my mom had any job she would have left Stephen after how he treats us but of course he gives us money for our livings so we can't point him or deny anything he'll ask us to do.
" Morng momma " I replied giving her a kiss.
" Stephen is not in a good mood today " my mom mumbled and I tightly gripped her hand giving her a weak smile.
" Mom can we just go away I don't like this , I don't like you like this " I asked slowly and she cleared her throat as Stephen entered the room.
" Sofia I want you back home till 5 don't be out late " Stephen said taking a seat on the dinning table.
" But I've my tuitions after college " I said looking at my mom and then Stephen.
" I've talked to your teacher you're not going for tuitions now it's not necessary" he said reading the newspaper.
" But why ! Have I did something wrong ?" I questioned him.
" I said what I said , you'll be home till 5 or you'll face the consequences " he said in a ordering tone.
" Stephen she has just started I think she - " my mom said but was cut off by Stephen.
" I didn't ask for your opinion" he shouted.
" Fine " I nodded and left the house.

Life has never been easy for me , living in this house was like hell but my mom was always with me in every stage of my life , I know she goes through a lot just because of me and I want to keep her happy away from whatever she's facing right now.
I don't like to call Stephen, dad and I avoid even talking to him I just hate that man.

AT 5
I silently walked inside the house and placed my bag on the stand.
I started to walk towards my room but I stopped at my place when I heard my mom sobbing.
I ran inside the room and my mom was crying sitting on the couch while Stephen sat across her. She had a bruise on her cheek and her eyes all weak and tired. It wasn't my first time seeing her in this state actually it happens a lot.
" Mom what happen ?" I shouted running towards her.
" I'll tell you what happened,,  she tried to argue with me " Stephen chuckled and I wiped the tears from my mom's cheek.
" You might have said something wrong , she's not crazy to argue with a beast like you without a reason " I yelled at Stephen but I knew he's gonna hit me too after this . He walked closer to me and grabbed my hairs tightly.
" You little slut " he shouted pushing my head back forcefully while my mom tried to stop him from hitting me.
" Stephen please leave her please "my mom pleaded and he loses his grip from my hairs.
" She's getting married to him and if she did anything wrong I'm gonna kill you " he yelled at my mom and walked out of the room in anger.
" Are you okay Sofia ?" My mom asked and I nodded
" What is he talking about ? Who's getting married to whom ? Mom please tell me " I asked all worried and confused at the same time.
" Sofia ,, Stephen wants you to get married " my mom said
" But mom I -"
" Sofia I tried to tell him that he's wrong I know you'll be fine by yourself , but you know how he is " my mom cried.
" Mom is he doing all this for his business ?" I cried and my mom nodded.
" He wants you to get married to Mr Mendes' son , they are helping him in his business " my mom replied
" But mom I don't, I can't do it I can't get married right now to anyone , Stephen is just selling me for his business , he can't do that " I cried but I knew at the back of my mind that I don't have any other option . I just can't run away from him I don't have any savings any money , where will I go where will I live if I ran away and what about my mom.
" You're getting married within 2 days , I don't want this to happen to you Sofia just run away " my mom said crying.
" I can't leave you mom " I cried back.
" I don't want you to live a life like me , go and live your dream do what you want to do , live freely "my mom said
" Mom maybe he's nice , the one I'm getting married to , I don't have anything except you I don't want anything if I can't have you , mom will you come with me " I questioned but I knew she's gonna refuse cuz we can't afford anything without Stephen.
" How can I expect him to be nice if he's Stephen's friend's son " my mom said and I hugged her.

" You've the same destiny as your mom and you'll get a same life like hers . Now don't do this drama cuz you know you're getting married anyways " Stephen chuckled entering the room. I want to ignore him but this time he's words hits harder.

I'm getting married to someone I've not even seen before , I don't know what kinda person he is.

" Ya within 2 days , start preparations my friend , , whatever but she's beautiful as fuck , your son will not have to go out to other womens after getting her I promise " Stephen laughed at his phone call and I cringed on his words that he was using for me.
