He was so close to her but due to a lot of pain he went through he did not wanted to have hope again.
But just when he realized she is there he did not left any stone unturned to make her his again.
We all know that the track which started in January didn't ended the way we wanted it to end. And we all ended up convincing ourselves that in somewhere kaira united and are happy together. Naira lost all the hope of surviving but more than that she was scared about her love, her kartik and continuously insisted him to get away from there. But Kartik was determined to save her and assured that he is going to stay with her, no matter what the situation is.

Then due to Naira's insistence he got off the bus, Naira closes her eyes and started reminiscing all the special moments she lived with her Kartik, her kids and with her family. Just then a voice came, "Naira apni aankhen kholo aur apna haath do" and none other than he was her mendhak who literally climbed on bus's window with the help of rope. "kaha tha na maine jeeyenge toh saath marenge toh saath" and she gave him her hand. Kaira came out of danger and everyone took a breath of relief as they were safe now. Kaira hugged each other so tightly which made it so evident that how scared both of them were a moment ago. They felt like just now they got a new life.

But it seemed that God had another plan for them.
Just when kaira were celebrating their togetherness and kairav was running to get into his mother's embrace Naira felt ground shaking under her legs. Her mind processed the disaster and she pushed Kartik away from her towards the safer side. The part of land slided and Kartik screamed "Naira" trying to hold her hand but unfortunately the hold got loose, their hands separated and she fell from the cliff.
Naira was watching Kartik with eyes full of tears not even blinked it once because she knew she is not going to see him again in this life. She hit the ground and......
Here Kartik eyes got stuck down the cliff from where his Naira fall. He was in shock, not realizing what happened just a moment ago. And when Naira completely vanished from his sight reality hit him and he screamed "Nairaaaaa".
He was going down the cliff but family members holded him back because it was dangerous. He was shouting, "Papa mujhe jaane do meri naira woh... neeche yahan se... niche gir gai hai papa mujhe jaana hoga uske paas usse meri zarurat hai.. Papa pls mujhe jaane do..."
They somehow managed to drag him to the safer side. He was continuously trying to release himself but failed. After sometime the rescue team arrived. Kartik requested them to take him down along with the team but no one listened. The shattered kartik goenka desperately wanted to go down the cliff to find his Naira and he doesn't need anyone for that but there was a whole rescue team who holded him back.
"Papa mera jaana zaruri hai meri Naira ko meri zarurat hai kitni uper se giri hai kitni chot lagi hogi usko mera intezaar kr rhi hogi woh papa pls mujhe jaane do", he kept on requesting but no one listened. How could one man fight against whole system. That was destiny's cruelty.
