I was laying with my back up against a tree enjoying a peach and the silence with my eyes closed when I heard Kierra calling to me. Kierra was Cole's familiar. A familiar is not someone you choose but it's rather a unique occurrence. If you find a familiar, the two all of a sudden become one. A matching symbol appears on each of you in the identical spot. You are able to feel each other's pain and in some cases speak to each other through your thoughts. But with training you can learn to block out sending or receiving emotions or the other's telepathic thoughts.

"Rooossseeee!!! Did you hear the news? The seekers said that the Shadows Knights were spotted nearby."

The Shadow Knights or more commonly known as the Knights are a ruthless group that have wiped out countless tribes searching for the sirus. The last time we had an encounter with them was 10 years ago. That was the night my parents died as did almost half of our tribe. Ugh I always get a headache whenever thinking about the Knights.

"What if they found out where we are and are coming here? What would they want with us? "

"Kierra."

"How many do you think are out there?"

"Kierra!"

Is it a whole army? Are we to be scared? Do you think they will come"

"KIERRA!!!"

She looks at the ground embarrassed.

"Sorry Rose."

"It's okay but one question at a time next time. I'm sure they aren't coming here because they don't have a reason for coming here."

"What about the incident from before? What if they...."

"That was 10 years ago, Kierra. If they wanted to exact vengeance, then they would have already."

"That's true."

She sits down next to me and I hand her a peach. She takes the peach with joy and begins munching away on it. I breathe out a sigh of relief and close my eyes again. If the Knights really were close then it could be the end of peace or they could just be passing through. If they step foot on our land I will see to each one of their deaths.

"Do you think the sirus really exists?"

I ponder her question for a minute. The supposid sirus is this legendary creature that bleeds golden blood. The blood can give someone unique abilities and heal any wound. It can even revive someone from the dead. He who controls the sirus controls the world.

"I think the sirus is just a legend that the elders tell the kids to get them to play outside and give their mothers a break."

That answer seems to satisfy her. And yet again silence. Sweet silence.

*Screams in the distance* I bolt up from my spot, Kierra is nowhere to be seen. I head towards the screams, hand on the hilt of my sword ready for anything. I find that the houses are on fire, dead bodies scattered and the scent of blood heavy in the air. I hear the screams again. They were near the leaders quarters. When I got there I found Kierra half alive. I looked to see that her wounds were too great for me to heal. She was going to die. I crouched down and reached out to give her comfort, but she pushed me away, tears in her eyes.

"Why? Why did you do this? You're a monster!"

With that she takes her final breath. I was taken back, I didn't do this. Why was she scared of me? What did I do? My mind began to become foggy again. No! I can't lose control, I have to see if there are other survivors. As I go to stand up I find someone's presence behind me. I go to draw my sword, but I am too late. Their sword has already pierced my stomach, it did not hurt like I thought it would have. As I fell to the ground, waiting for death's embrace, a figure with long, black hair stood over me. My eyes went wide, she looked like me. No, she was me. I did this to the tribe, I killed everyone and with that darkness took over me. Death's embrace.
