Kabanata 7: Ghost

The court filled with screams coming from the women around us. Rich and his team are actually winning from the opponent. I could barely hear what he was shouting at me. Magugulat na lang ako na tinutulak-tulak na ako nila Cassie at Shaina.

"Mukhang nagpapa-impress, ah!" Asik ni Cassie at mahina pa akong tinulak. "That's for you raw," sabi pa niya pagkatapos maka-three points ni Rich.

"Is there a thing between you and Rich, Ky?" Tanong ni Shai. Napailing lang ako. "How about, you and Ms. Carson?" She asked, making my gaze shifted to her.

"There's nothing between us." I answered plainly. "Not because you saw us kissing, you will assume that there's something between us. That will not work with us." Dugtong ko pa.

"Chill, nagtatanong lang." Natatawang sambit sa akin ni Shai. "But, I saw the two of you again last night."

I froze for a moment.

"Nag-kiss ba ulit sila, Shai? Oh baka naman nag-level up na— aray naman, Shai!" Asik ni Cassie nang batukan siya ni Shai. "Nagtatanong lang naman ako. Malay ba nating may ginawang kakaiba si Kyrie. Ni hindi nga ako makapaniwala sa sinabi mo na naghalikan sila. Knowing Kyrie?" She said and tsk-ed afterwards.

"They seemed enjoying the calmness of the night. Sa school, hindi naman sila madalas mag-usap. But, last night was different. You seemed comfortable with her presence, Ky." Wika ni Shai bago tumingin sa akin. "I'm no observer but, your eyes were being transparent whenever you're with her."

"How can you say that?" I lifted my brows. "Hindi pa naman kami gano'ng nagkakasama." I said, hiding the fact that I'm too afraid that she might know something about my actions.

"It's not about the time of spent, Kyrie, it's all about the connection." Sagot sa akin ni Shaira. "Kakakilala mo pa lang kay Ms. Carson pero komportable ka na sa kaniya. Don't even try to deny it, Kyrie."

Napatahimik ako dahil sa mga narinig ko. I couldn't even stutter any single word to defend myself from Shaina's words. I just flinch the thought that I am aware that I really felt the strong connection between us despite of being together in just a less of time.

"Napapansin ko rin ang mga pagsulyap ni Ms. Carson kay Kyrie—"

"Stop," I said, cutting Cassie's words and making them shut their mouth. "Can we not talk about that?" I sounded like, I'm begging. Geez.

Ilang minuto ang lumipas bago natapos ang laro nila Rich. As usual, sila ang nanalo. Nag-aya siyang mag-sine kaya sumang-ayon kaming tatlo. Wala rin naman akong gagawin ngayong gabi dahil day off ko every Saturday.

Binabaliwala ko na lang ang mga pagsulyap nila Cassie at Shai sa aming dalawa ni Rich na animo'y may gustong ipahiwatig. Rich, on the other hand, seem so happy. Gusto kong magtanong pero walang lakas ng loob ang bibig ko. So, I ended up shutting my mouth until we get in our destination.

Napili nilang palabas ang Last Night. Rich bought our popcorns and drinks. Gusto ko sanang tumanggi pero mapilit talaga siya. Kung pipilitin ko pa siya sa gusto ko, baka mag-away lang kaming dalawa. So, I just reminded him na hindi pwedeng siya lagi ang nanlilibre. It's not fair.

Habang nanonood, hindi ko mapigilang isipin ang nangyayari ngayon dahil sa palabas. The main man lead fell in a trap with a ghost, which is the character of the main female lead. Just because of one situation, they develop strong foundation for the new relationship they have.

Without any hesitation, without further sharing life experiences, they both felt the spark of comfort. But, as the movie continuous, the male lead learns that she fell in love with a ghost, who lived during the turbulent years of the early 70's. The female lead save other people from jumping off the bridge with a mission to show them the beauty of life.
