DURING THE PAST four hours, twenty-nine minutes, and eleven seconds (yes, he'd been counting,) Koro-sensei had been polishing him to the bone. Every time he'd try and kill him, he'd cut his hair, put him in some pink apron (put it on Nagisa?) and paint his nails. He hated it, how it'd humiliate him and everything he'd worked for.

He seemed to have a habit of biting his nails; he'd decided, sitting on a plant connected precariously along the edges of the cliff. He wasn't out of plans, he guessed. "Ooh Karmaaa!" The familiar voice rang in singsong to his ears, high and looking down on him. Don't get on your high horse, octopus. Tch.

His face said different, though. Green stripes dotted all over, ever-floating tentacles circling around him. "Any assassination attempts? I always look forward to helping my students improve," He smiled. If he had any eyebrows, they'd be furrowed in all the pride he had for himself. "Out of ideas already?" He giggled. "It's not over yet," Karma whispered, biting his fingernail again.

"Ohoho? What's that? Keep trying to kill me if that tickles your fancy. I have a whole beauty regimen lined up for you," He said, bringing up black and pink cat ears, makeup, a face mask, a cat tail, and more. What the heck? "And you'd look quite good at them too," Korosensei murmured, "Hmmmn, what should I do next..."

"Ne, Korosensei?" The green stripes were off now, the teacher looking up.

"You're a teacher, right?"

"Yes, why?"

"And you wouldn't think twice about risking your life to save a student?"

"What kind of teacher would I be if I did?"

"Good, so I can kill you... I knew there had to be a way..."

On a tricky limbo between life and death, the boy stood on the edge, ready to fall. The wind whipped his red hair around, creating such a striking image that you'd be quite distracted from the fact that he was about to die. And with that, black gun pointed straight to crescent necktie, howling winds inviting, he fell back.

─ ✦ ─

The redhead, his redhead, was nowhere to be seen. He'd checked every known nook and cranny of the house, and he was in none of them. He'd told him, directly, not to go after he went to schoo- wait, no, he hadn't told him that directly, but he was pretty sure that was the unspoken message. Come on, give him a break. He didn't know he would sneak ou- well, he did have suspicions-

The point is, it wasn't his fault. Whatever happened to the redhead, he thought, Karma would be entirely accountable. He didn't own rights to the redhead, the redhead wasn't hi- obviously, why would he ever think that? It was settled, he was going crazy. And that was all. the redhead's. fault.

Or was it?

Gakushuu paced around the island, muttering to himself. He shouldn't have let the redhead leave, or leave the windows unlocked- who was he kidding, he could have picked it. But why did he even care? He hated that guy, he was responsible for the band-aid on his cheek, he was responsible for him being distracted.

And at the same time, he liked that guy, he could be himself around him.

Which was it, again?

God, staying with him is deteriorating my brain. That's how low his IQ is.

But then again, he could have killed him, thrown him out ages ago. That's right, why did he still exist? Was it because he didn't have the heart to kill him? I mean, no, impossible, he thought, he would be useful, that's why.

Oh my God, was he that crazy for Karma he was lying to himself?

─ ✦ ─

The wind repelled his body, almost seeming to try and prevent him from taking his life. The pressure against him doubled, a worthy last hurrah before being forgotten, a rush of adrenaline. He wasn't scared. His head neared the woodland below, the image in his eyes zooming every second, though his life seemed to be in slow motion. He was happy. Exhilarated.

'Damn, I'm actually going to die! And with only a day and a night with Gakushuu! Alright then, what should I think? Uh, goodbye, world? It was nice meeting you? That's- not a touching last thought, think bett-

His thoughts were cut off as he bounced on a sticky-yellow-trampoline-looking-web-thing.

"Ka-a-rma-kun!" Korosensei smiled down from underneath the tentacle-web as his student struggled. "Great job on the planned assassination starring you and yourself," he said, sticking his head from the different holes on the yellow thing. "What a sticky web we weave, ey? I knew your body couldn't handle being caught at the speed of sound. And had I moved any faster you would have shot me. "

The octopus smiled as if that was the funniest thing he'd ever said. "What the hell is this thing?" Karma struggled against it, grunting. "You can't shoot me now, can you?" Korosensei triumphed, green stripes flashing against his face for a second. "And Karma... students don't die on my watch. Keep that in mind whenever you want to take a leap of faith."

He would.
