Before you guys start I'm going to let you know that this chapter is more of an introduction to the characters. It isn't exciting yet (well I don't think) but it will be after a few more chapters ahead. It is only the beginning.

Aura stared silently out the window, watching as the snow fell and gently landed on the sidewalk of her house. The snow was beautiful, white and pure. She craved to feel the soft kisses the snowflakes planted on her face whenever she stood beneath them.
Outside was so beautiful yet inside was not. Aura turned her head to find her family scattered around the house with other relatives, talking loudly with champagne in their hands. They laughed while Aura sat quietly on the couch, staring at them as if they all had two heads.
Suddenly a loud shriek comes from one of the kids running around the living room, causing her to wince. There were about six kids in the house and they've caused more ruckus than – well that's the thing, Aura didn't know. She's never seen this much of a mess caused by little kids.
Aura raised herself up from the couch and slipped on her black boots. She's had enough of the loud talking and sounds coming from the people in the house. She was ready to head outside. She pulled her coat and hat over her head, careful not to mess up the curls she did for the Christmas party her parents were having at the moment. Aura yanked open the back door of her house and shivered slightly from the cold air that cocooned her body instantly. It was freezing but the beautiful snow made it worth while.
Aura walked through the snow, by trees and bushes covered with it as well. The snow made everything lighter in the day, and that's what she loved about it. She felt at peace now, no longer hearing the loud sounds from before and sighed in pure bliss, even though she was cold and her fingers were red and stiff, she'd take outside over inside any day.
Aura stretched her arms out, embracing the fall of the snow from the sky. It was so quiet and calm, she could stay her forever and – abruptly the feeling of ice hitting the nape of her neck and slowly falling down her back made Aura freeze and shudder from the cold feeling. She had been hit by a snowball.
"Who did that." Aura asked through clenched teeth.
She all but heard the sound of cars driving through her neighborhood. Until suddenly she heard a small giggle come from behind a bush not far from where Aura stood. She stomped towards the bush and without thinking of her actions, shook the bush until she could longer see the snow that covered it before.
"Aura w-why did you do that for! I-It's freezing!" A young girl with brown hair and brown eyes to match cried out.
Aura glared down at her younger sister, Giselle kneeling behind the bush. "Why did you throw the snowball at me?"
"I did it for fun Aura, calm down." Giselle muttered and shook off the snow on her shoulders.
"Oh really? Or did you just want to bother me?" Aura asked, still glaring at Giselle.
She could tell Giselle was thinking about it in her head, as she looked up with her index finger placed on her chin.
"By bothering you...I had fun." Giselle said before skipping away and going back inside the house.
Her little sister was so immature.
After getting hit by a snowball Aura no longer wanted to be outside, she could barely feel her face and fingers. Breathing in and out heavily with her coat covering half of her face, Aura made her way back to her house as well. As soon as she opened the door to her house, voices filled her ears and she winced from the sudden loudness. Aura ignored it and walked back to where she once sat before, to the couch. Though as she did, she stopped. Her mother and Aunt Teresa were sitting there. Aura fought the glare she wanted to give them and continued in their direction anyways. She sat herself down on the little space left on the couch and began to take off her wet boots.
"-you didn't hear?" Aunt Teresa asked mom.
"What?" Mom questioned.
"Supposedly there has been a wolf sighting around here. Mr. Lemmings saw it when he was hunting and reported it."
Wolf sighting?
"Don't let the children out, it's bad enough that you live next to the forest." Aunt Teresa suggested and Aura realized that they had yet to realize that she was next to them.
"Why? Because of the wolf? Pft, they'll be fine." Mom responded and Aura couldn't help but frown.
Did her mom not care if she was eaten by the big bad wolf?

The night ended quickly, as did the party. Everyone left the house and said their sweet goodbyes. Aura never felt so relieved in her life when silence returned to their house once again. She made her way to her room and prepared for bed, exhausted from the long day she had.
Her body shivered as she laid still on her bed with the many blankets she thankfully found before going to sleep. She never did like having a room in the basement. Aura felt as if frostbite was creeping up her toes as the time passed.
Aura turned her head to look out her window, to look at the forest behind her house. It was still snowing and the sky had turned dark but she could still see the faint lines of the trees. She waited for the moment a face or an animal would pop up like in the movies, but nothing came.
Aura then remembered what her Aunt said, a wolf was sighted in these forests. She turned away from the window, not feeling as daring as before. She was tired now, from everything that's happened today. She was glad the day was over. She just hoped tomorrow wasn't so bad.
