The hands trailing along her cold cheeks sent a warm sensation from her head to toes. Aura was hesitant to even pull away from the strangers touch but...he was a stranger after all. Aura lifted her own hands to pull the hands on her face off of her—her cold ones touched his warm ones and to her surprise, the man stepped away in disbelief. He was breathtakingly handsome; with olive tanned skin, black hair, and a pair of honey colored eyes. He was more than six feet tall and robust. Truth to be told Aura felt as if she was standing before a Greek god...except his actions didn't seem like one, not one bit.
Thinking back to the way he smelled at her neck and the growls he made from the back of his throat made her shiver. She remembered what he had told her just moments ago and she wanted to find a hint of laughter in his eyes so she could accuse him of lying and playing a sick joke. Yet all she could find were gold orbs filled with solemnity.
He was crazy.
Suddenly—Aura was pulled out of her thoughts when the man flashed and grabbed her hands. "What-" Aura wanted to protest but then she felt the warmth radiating from the hands that held her own. She could feel the layers of ice covering her hands melt at his touch. Aura didn't know how the man did it but the thought of him being crazy escaped her mind, for the moment.
For hours, Aura has been wandering the forest trying to find her father. In that time period it had snowed several inches and the temperature dropped significantly, in result, after her body finally felt the warmth from the stranger, it craved for more.
"Why are you cold?" He asked, breaking the silence.
Aura furrowed her brows and looked up at him, "why wouldn't I be cold? We're in the middle of winter and it's snowing..."
The man let go of her hands and looked as if he wanted to say something else but decided against it and turned his back to her. After he let her go, the warmth of his touch faded away and was replaced with the cold air. Aura frowned and looked at the man once again. He looked to be deep in his thoughts.
"Who are you?" She asked, this time it was her turn to break the silence. As she waited for his response, the silence became awkward and Aura started to become irritated at the man for not answering her question.
"Hello?"
The man continued to think on his own and Aura didn't know what was making him so confused at a time like this. Seeing that the man wasn't going to snap out of it anytime soon—Aura took her chance to create some distance between them. Sure, he was incredibly good looking and looked normal but she couldn't push aside what he had said earlier.
"You're like me. Your scent, your eyes, the blood that pumps through your veins! You're like me, I can feel it!"
"You're a beast...like me."
Who says something like that? The wolf and her father were already worries she had to carry on her shoulders, now the man in front of her was added onto the list. As Aura was doing her own analysis of the situation, she didn't realize when the man had turned around and had fixed his eyes upon her. His stare once again sent shivers down her spine.
"Why are you in this forest?" He abruptly asked her, startling her.
"I came to find my father." Aura responded. She thought she would have to repeat herself because she said it so quietly and the winds had begun to pick up but he managed to hear her perfectly.
"Why?" He asked
"Because of the wolf." Aura said and stared at the man cautiously.
Seconds passed and then minutes. Silence. The two stood in front of each other without moving or speaking as heavy snow began to fall and the winds swirled around them. The silence caused the atmosphere to feel eerie and a sliver of fear crawled its way into Aura's heart as time passed.
"How do you know there is a wolf in these forests?" He then urged on in anticipation.
"I heard it." Aura said defensively.
"HAHAHA!" The man's sudden laughter erupted in the air, it was so loud that the birds in the area all flew away from fear, which made her almost want to do the same.
"What are you laughing at?! I know what I heard, don't laugh." Aura was angry, why did it seem like she was the crazy one now?
"I began to doubt myself when I felt how cold you were. It looks like I wasn't mistaken," The man smiled warmly at Aura now, almost making her heart skip a beat. He began to walk towards her, closer and closer.
"You are like me." He whispered and touched her face, the heat from his hands transferred to her skin and it spread along her whole body—it was a feeling that she had already felt and had already despised, it was addicting.
"Don't..." Aura resisted softly.
"I've finally found you." The man persisted in saying.
"I said don't touch me!" Aura said louder and pushed the man away with all her strength. Seeing that the man didn't budge, Aura turned to her only option left—run.
This man is seriously crazy, was all that Aura could think of as she ran. She ran faster than she had when she first entered the forest, the fear in her heart giving her the ability to do so. She knew what crazy men like him can do, she's seen plenty of them on the news.
Aura was already breathing heavily from the pace she was going at and her body ached even more than before. She continued to run, pushing branches covered in ice away from her hurling body. Aura couldn't feel it but she currently already had hundreds of scratches covering her body. But that was the least of her worries. She needed to get away and find her father. Suddenly and without warning, A heavy body slammed her to the ground. Aura's breath was knocked right out of her on the first impact—she couldn't even scream. Her head then hit the forest floor making her see stars. Everything was swiftly executed that Aura couldn't even make a sound. If she did then maybe, just maybe, her father would've heard her.
"No ordinary human can hear the howls of a Beast." The strangers voice whispered in her ear.
Aura wanted to move away from the man, push him away, resist in anyway possible, but she couldn't. Her vision blurred as each second passed. She felt the man scoop her in his arms and walk towards the unknown. Aura wondered when she would see her family again, her home, and for some reason her mind wandered on the being that got her into this whole situation in the first place, the wolf.
