You and Shuichi sat down next to each other, in front of all the food Kirumi had prepared. Many smells were wafting around the room, each a very pleasant aroma. As everyone finished sitting down, Kirumi made her way to the end of the table, and announced in a gentle tone,
"You may eat. Please do not hesitate. I have prepared food for the likings of everyone," As she finished the last sentence, everyone perked up in their seats. Then, one after the other, everyone starting piling food upon their plates. Well, everyone except K1-B0, who was a robot. And you know, robots can't particularly eat.
While you stuffed your face, you glanced at Shuichi. You noticed that he only had a few things on his plate, and none of it was eaten.
"Is something wrong Shuichi?" He looked to you, a slight shocked expression, as his cheeks became flushed.
"Oh... Uhm. I..I don't really eat that much...,"
"And why's that?" He shrugged in response, as you continued, "Don't you like food?"
"Well of course I do. I'm just not particularly fond of the eating process I guess," You nodded. He seemed to have a slight understanding at least, and now you did too.
Just as you were starting to enjoy yourself, you heard the annoying, high pitched voice of Monokuma.
"Goooood morning!!!" A few people groaned in response.
"What, aren't you happy to see me? Fuhuhuhu! Regardless, I'm here to explain the killing game!" At those final two words, everyone instantly stopped what they were doing, and looked to the bear.
"Sparked your interest, have I? Now then, let me explain. You already know, there is no way to leave the school, correct? Well there actually is! And that is by playing in the killing game! In the game, you have to kill one another. Those who kill, become blackened. They can admit their crimes and leave the school, or a class trial can be held." A boy named Kaito spoke up,
"The hell is a class trial?"
"Shut up, and I'll gladly tell you! The class trial occurs after a murder takes place, and the blackened doesn't speak up. During the class trial, you have to figure out who the blackened is, and vote on them! If you vote correctly, the blackened will be punished! But, if you vote incorrectly... the blackened gets to leave, and all of you die. Fun, right!?" Gasps and murmurs erupted from around the room. Kaede spoke up through it all,
"P-punishment?"
"Yes my dear idiot! A punishment, that will result in the death of the blackened!" Kaito began yelling at the bear.
"Killing game huh?! Why don't I just kill you then!!"
"Tut tut! No such action will be performed. Harming the headmaster will result in your death. Didn't you read the school rules? It was on you Monopad..," That's right, the Monopads. They were supposedly a student handbook for everyone. You had read it all, though you couldn't be sure anyone else did.
"Anyway," Monokuma began speaking again, "I'll leave you to your breakfast. Farewell!" And just like that, he was gone. After that ordeal, no one really had an appetite anymore. Soon, everyone wandered off, either alone or with another person. Eventually, just you and Shuichi remained.
"Do you....wanna go do something?" You asked as you turned to him.
"Do something..like what?"
"I dunno...we can go exploring! Just the two of us," You smiled at him.
"Sure...why not?" He smiled at you, his face slightly covered by the brim of his hat. Your heart began racing as you looked at him. He had a great smile. You could feel your cheeks flush, as he stood up and offered his hand to you. You took it, and stood up, smiling at him again before letting go. When you let go, you could see Shuichi's expression changed. He seemed somewhat disappointed that you had chosen to let go.
Then you were off. Off to explore the ruin of a school. Off to fall deeper in love
