His POV
Windows down, with the warm night air blowing through our hair we cruised down the completely empty road.
With one hand on the steering wheel, the other on her thigh I looked over at her and smiled. She was leaning on the door, sleeping peacefully as the air gently blew against her face. She seriously looked like something out of a movie scene.
I wasn't in a rush to get her back home. When she called me crying, I knew she needed some time away. All she wanted to do was go somewhere and get everything off her mind for awhile. She had a lot going on in her life and just needed a break. We both did.
We've been out all night, just driving and enjoying our time alone in the middle of no where.
At one point we stopped on the side of the road, and just talked. About any and every thing. I was in love with everything she had to say, I could listen to her talk for hours. And even with the tears, I always felt like it was my job to always be there to make her smile.
But now, as we're driving back, I already can't wait until I get the chance to do this with her again. I rubbed her thigh as she started to wake back up, and without opening her eyes she asks quietly "are we there yet?" Before answering I took her hand, and kissed it softly. "Shhh, just go back to sleep." She intertwines her fingers with mine and it doesn't take long for her to drift back into sleep.
I honestly wish we could get lost and drive forever, but for now I'll just enjoy taking the long way home.
