Chapter 6

The next day, Maya woke up and rushed to work. They have called her because there was big fire and it was going to get to five alarms. When she got to the station she was greeted by Vic: "Hi Captain!" "Hey there Hughes, any news on the fire?" Maya asked worried. "Not yet, but I think we're gonna be called soon". Maya headed to the beanery to get some coffee, it was all she needed that day. She sat and as she was about to take the first sip, the alarm went off..."Ladder 19, aid car 19, engine 19" everyone ran and put on their turn outs. They climbed in and headed to the big fire on the building. When they arrived at the scene, it was horrible, all the other stations were trying to contain the fire. Maya reported to the fire chief and he told 19 to get hold of the 13th floor. "Miller, Sullivan go inside first, swipe the place and look for possible victims, Hughes, Herrera, grab the hoses, Montgomery you go up the ladder and try to put out the fire from there and Warren, you stay near the aid car, in case someone needs assistance. Report back to me every two minutes" Maya ordered. "Captain, there's little visibility and the smoke is really bad" Miller radioed. "Hello, is anybody in here? This is Sullivan from Station 19, if you can hear me, please shout "Over here" a woman screamed. "Keep talking so I can trace you" Sullivan said. In no time, he reached the woman, who was laying under a table. "Captain, we have one person, I'm taking her out" "ok, Ben, get a gurney" Maya said. In no time, the woman was out, she had severe smoke inhalation and some first degree burns. Soon enough they were able to get the fire under control and everything was ok. No fatal victims. They went back to the station and they all had a shower and changed their clothes. Maya went to her office to file the report on the incident and while she was there her phone pinged. It was Carina. "Hey bella, how's your day going?" Maya smiled at the screen, it was so good to get a text from her girl. "Just came back from a five alarm fire at a huge building, but everyone's ok, no fatal victims. "And how's yours beautiful? " Maya responded. "Agh, I just got out of surgery, a complicated c-section, the mom's unstable and the baby is premature and in the NICU, I'm tired, can you come to my house later bambina?" Maya jumped from her sit. She missed Carina, everyday at every moment. She couldn't wait to be in her arms. "I get out at 6pm, be there after the shift, I miss you" "I miss you too bellina, see you then, bacio". Aaaaah Maya loved when Carina spoke Italian to her, so sexy. At 6pm, Maya left the station, got into her car and drove to her hot Italian girlfriend's house. When she arrived, she knocked on the door...two seconds later, Carina appeared: "Ciao bella" and she leaned in to kiss her. And there it was, the electricity that made the two of them lose their minds. "Come in" Carina said and smile while holding Maya's hand. They headed to he kitchen. "Wait, you cooked for me?" Maya was impressed. "Of course I did my love, I thought I'd do something nice since we both had such a hard day" Carina said "what did I do to deserve this?" Maya asked. "You deserve the whole world bella, come, sit down and let's enjoy dinner, but first, would you like a glass of wine?" "Oh, yes please beautiful". They had pasta and it was delicious. After dinner Carina gave Maya a very relaxing massage. After a while, she fell asleep, it was so relaxing. Carina spooned Maya and was fast asleep too. It felt so right, it felt like home. Carina has never been happier, her blonde blue eyed gorgeous girlfriend was certainly the best thing that happened to her and she couldn't wait to have more adventures with her.
