Unspoken

Do you even wish you could take back every word spoken?

Go back in time to rearrange what played out.

Your whole being shouting out that your at a loss.

Those words you spoke had a cost.

There's only a shadow of where they could always be found.

Words tossed so carelessly.

Trust lost.

Trying so hard to act as if goodbye was for the best.

Feeling as if your sanity has been put to test.

That empty void that rears it's ugly head.

But sadly you never get to take back what you said.

So you keep moving ahead but that feeling of dread sits with you, holding on tight.

At night you think perhaps you caught a glimpse of what was lost.

A shadow of where they were right by my side.

But always nothings there just a memory of what once was.

As that shadow fades a bit more each day.

Their memory stays.

Nothings the same since that day.

That day you should of said sorry.

Instead you said goodbye and walked away.

That day when you should of said please stay.

Do you ever wish you could take back every word spoken?

Now all that's left is that fading shadow nearly gone.

A longing for more than a mere memory as a parting token.

So much left to say but all is unspoken.
