Second Day

RAE'S POV
I didn't go to school for the second day. There was no way I could tolerate that.

At all.

Who would?

Anyway, I just stayed home, doing.. Pretty much nothing. I drew some things, played Xbox, ate a lot of unhealthy snacks.. So it was my kind of day.

My parents grounded me. Not just because of the snap on Mr. Kohen, but also beating up Avery. I said that none of this was my fault, I was simply protecting my friend and speaking the clear truth about education.

I didn't really care I got grounded. It's hardly ever often, and the punishments aren't even that bad. Thank God, it's not something like taking away my Xbox or phone or YouTube privileges. For now, it's just I can't talk to my friends in person.
Weird, I know, but that's how my parents 'punish.'

I could've settled with this.. But for whatever reason, I wanted to talk face to face with my friends. I texted Mae, Jonathan, Max, and Stephanie to come over at about 6:00 tonight..
through my window.

Jonathan is kind of like how Avery is with Mae to me. Just not nearly as bad. As for Stephanie, Mae was friends with her for some reason. I don't know why.. But she's an outlier to us. By far.

And Max.. He's just Max.

Then I texted Avery,
<Fuck you.> I just kept the anger I had for him locked inside me. It wouldn't go away.
He texted back,
<Okay...> I think he's scared of me now.
Good.

The challenge about the window thing, is that I'm on the second floor. I can't risk my friends being caught going through the front door. Because my parents are Night Owls.. Like me. They stay up till 4 a.m. watching TV, then only sleeping 2 hours before waking up for going to work.

Something that really relieved me, though, was that I wasn't woken up by a suicide inducing noise, produced by an alarm clock. I woke up on my own, ready and not as weak as yesterday morning.

I made my way downstairs to get breakfast. I didn't interact with my parents all day, other than asking if breakfast was ready.

"Do you have breakfast ready?" I asked Mom. She was washing dishes from last night.
"Yeah.. We got some orange rolls and cereal. Get it yourself." She snapped. She almost threw the plate she was rinsing back into the sink.

What's her problem..? I thought. The Mr. K and Avery thing? Whatever.. I want some of those orange rolls!
Mouth watering, I got my breakfast and raced upstairs to spend the rest of my day like a modern day hermit.

Fantastic.

MAE'S POV

I woke up at around 7:00, giving me about two and a half hours to get ready. I throw on a red tank top minidress and black leather Prada high-heels. I had a feeling today was gonna be better. I texted Avery telling him sorry, then ran into the bathroom to curl my hair and do a fade out make-up design.

In less than 5 minutes I got a response.
<Stupid slut.>

I re-read this message a hundred times.
"Wow.. I. Really. Fucked. Up. Bad."

I couldn't respond.. I didn't know how to. Why did I have to get in a fight with him? I guess my stepmom heard me.. Because she came into my room and sat down on the bed, hugging me for what seemed like forever. I finally got up and thanked her while I carefully went into Breana's room to get a leather jacket. I grabbed my phone, took an apple for breakfast and got into my car and drove off to EARTH'S HELL.

I noticed Rae didn't come to school. But during history I got a text from her:
<Come over to my house tonight at 6:00. Sneak through the window, be quiet.>
I assumed she was grounded, you know, staying home and all. Her parents have this weird thing that if she gets in trouble for something.. She.. Stays home..? I don't know. I guess she's not in trouble, though. But how the Hell am I supposed to sneak through the window? She's on the second floor..
