a hospital, quiet words, and rope burns.

"(name)," the doctor sighed when she saw you, "again? really?"

you stood up with a nod and a smile, "it's great to see you too, doc,"

the doctor sighed again before turning to the middle aged woman behind the front desk you had been mindlessly chatting with while waiting, "i've got her," she guided you to her office while making small talk.

you mirrored her action of sitting down and throwing one leg over the other, hands folded in your lap. you threw your head back over the back of the chair as she typed something on the computer.

she looked up from the computer and smiled softly, "so... what happened?"

"i tried to hang myself but the rope snapped and now i have rope burns," you explained in a whiny voice after uncrossing your legs. your fingers went over the hurting area on your throat trying to soothe your irritated skin, "and a few scraps,"

the older woman looked at you with a deadpan, "i'm very close to putting you in a psychiatric hospital, you know,"

you grinned big and nodded making her sigh before she got up from her chair. walking back from the closet, she placed a familiar red box on her desk, "let me see,"

she was gentle as she cleaned your scraps and treated them; it felt nice to be touched with such gentleness. after she was done, she ruffled your hair and put the box aside, "i'm sure you know how to treat it?"

"yup!" you chirped.

her head went up and down in a nod, "then we're done here,"

she waved you off and you took off down the white hall, humming a random song you had heard earlier and giving smiles to people you made eye contact with. turning the corner, you paused when you saw your two close friends "mikey-chan? ken-boy? why're you guys here?"

draken sighed loudly, "how many times do i have to tell you not to call me that,"

you grinned while draken rolled his eyes.

"what're you doing here, (name)-chan?" mikey asked with a small smile, "another attempt?"

"yeah. it didn't work and now i have ropeburns," you rubbed the area on your throat with a pout.

mikey chuckled while draken rolled his eyes.

"what're you guys doing here?" you asked.

"visiting her," draken pointed into a room.

looking through the glass you saw a girl with a red, purple and blue face and breathing mask. you swallowed. your heart hurting and eyes stinging - you felt like crying just by looking at her. licking your lips, you asked in a hush tone, "... is that her?"

draken, knowing who you were referring to, nodded, "yeah. her parents were just here,"

you gave a single, short, flat hum to show you heard him, eyes glued to the girl you felt like crying for.

when you didn't say anything else, both your friends looked at you with confused faces. you were still and you didn't have that dumb grin on your face that never failed to make their heart flutter - it worried them greatly.

"it's scary, you know," you said somberly.

their heads snapped to you. your face was neutral, but they could see the turmoil in your eyes.

"what is?" draken dared to ask.

you eyes were still on the unconscious girl, "knowing it could happen to-"

"it's not," mikey cut you off.

"while i do appreciate the sentiment, mikey-chan," you walked over to the two, "you can't promise anything,"

mikey looked down with clenched fists and an angry expression on his face, whereas draken stood completely still, breathing quietly. wanting to get rid of the somber atmosphere, you forced your lips into your usual grin and folded your hands behind your head, "i'm hungry; let's go eat something,"

with sparkling eyes, mikey nodded happily,  "yeah, i'm hungry, too!"

"huh?!" draken said, "you just ate,"

"sleeping makes me hungry,"

"how does that even work?"

following your friends with a skip to your step, you grinned again -  this time a real one.

pausing in place you called after the two, "can you guys wait outside, i need to do something real quick,"

"sure,"

smiling and promising to be back, you put your hands in your pocket and walked back into the hospital.

takemichi determinedly clenched his fists, promising himself to save draken one august third, when a figure stepped in front of him. he flinched, "(name)-san,"

"you know, take-kun," you leaned close to his face, biting back a grin at how red he got when you did so, "you're kinda weird,"

"huh?"

you leaned away from him with a grin, "not in a bad way per say. you're just really strange at times,"

the blonde gulped, avoiding eye contact. his face red for two reasons - one, you had him cornered, and two, if he were to look down, he would get a fine view of your cleavage (it took everything in him to not look down). he flapped his arms around randomly, "wh-what are you..." he laughed nervously, eyes darting around, "i don't know what you mean,"

you narrowed your eyes at him. he was definitely a strange guy.

he chuckled awkwardly. you could clearly tell he was lying, "by the way, (name)-san, what are you doing here?" he asked, wanting nothing more than for the topic to change.

"oh i tried to hang myself,"

takemichi stared at you with dotted eyes, "...huh?"

"yeah," you sighed, "but the rope snapped and i got rope burns, so here i am... well, i should probably get back to mikey and ken," you said your goodby and left takemichi alone before he could say anything else.

now that i think about it... naoto hasn't mentioned her once, takemichi's eyebrows furrowed as he watched your back leave out the front door, where were you in the future?
