"luna, please calm down," twelve-year-old mitsuya takeshi pated his sister gently on her back, trying to get her to stop crying. the young girl has been crying for the past five minutes, saying she missed mom. takashi thought it would be a good idea to take her for a walk to get some fresh air

"i know you miss her, luna, but she's with mana right now, remember? they went to the doctors,"

luna continued to cry, though less and longer in between sniffles. takashi sighed in relief at the lack of crying. he put her on the bench again, sitting down beside her, handing her a handkerchief he pulled from his back pocket.

"are you okay now, luna?"

the girl sniffled a few more times into the white cloth before nodding. takashi patted her head, looking down at her fondly. he smiled - she was so cute, with her round cheeks and pouty lips.

she called out to him with a small whine.

"yeah?"

"that person is drowning," she plainly said, pointing towards the river.

eyebrows furrowed as he looked to where his little sister was pointing, gasping as soon as he laid eyes on the legs sticking up from the water. takashi was quick to tell luna to stay put, before taking his jacket and shoes off.

the river is gross to swim in, he concluded as he grabbed your body and swam back towards where he was before. it's not meant to swim in either, and he's pretty sure he once heard that not even fish were living in there.

luna was leaning over your face when your eyes unfortunately opened. the first thing you did was swing yourself up into a sitting position, sighing loudly in disappointment. luna squeaked and ran to hide behind her big brother. your eyes wander to the side, to see a boy your age with wet clothes.

"did you save me?" you asked him, arms folded over your chest.

the lilac haired boy blinked blankly at your disappointed tone. one would think you would sound more grateful to have been saved from death, "yes...?"

"did you or did you not?"

he cleared his throat, "i did," your stare made him recoil, "...sorry?"

"you should be," you huffed, wrenching some water out of your shirt, "you ruined my mission,"

"mission...?" takashi was dumbfounded. you were by far the strangest person he had ever met.

"yes! my mission to suffocate,"

the world got quiet.

"...eh?"

"are you okay?" luna's small voice came from behind her big brother, and you, someone who was surprisingly good with kids as takashi would come to find out, bowed a full ninety degrees, "i am fine now that i've seen you, your highness,"
