"No" *swipe*, "no" *swipe*, "hell no" *swipe*, "these guys are horrible" I roll my eyes to my best friend ash who is eagerly waiting on the day that I lower my standards for a male specimen. "Y/n like seriously, you need a man. Look at you.." I give her a baffled look, "What about me?". "Girl, since you and dumb ass broke up, you've been slacking on the self care. Exhibit A," she lifts my leg up as if she was showing off a grand prize at the county fair, "Hello Sasquatch." I snatch my leg away from her while she leans over laughing maniacally. I roll my eyes, "So not funny Ash. And besides, I've shaved since Chris and I broke up.. asshole." I get up and walk to the kitchen, thinking of what to eat. "All I'm saying is, it's time for you to get back out there and swiping left on tinder every blue moon isn't going to make it easier." Ash yells out in a semi sarcastic tone. Eye roll, I try to change the subject, "You hungry?" She gets up swiftly and sits at the island with an agitated sigh. All of a sudden, her face lights up with a wide smile, "Let's go out tonight. There's this new restaurant I think we should try. You like Korean food right?" I ponder, "I do, but I'm not really in the mood for a night out." I close the fridge and lean on the counter opposite from her. "I'm not accepting no for an answer y/n. We're going." Dammit. I admit, since the break up, I haven't really been in the mood to go out. Every time I think I want to go out, I'm reminded of him; the guy that broke my heart in the middle of the park because he thought after 2 years of being together that we were better off as "friends". I fidget with my necklace, ugh.. she's not backing down. I'm so thankful for my best friend, she has been trying to get me out of this dark gray mood for 6 months. Damn me for being so stubborn. "Ok ok fine.. we'll go." I finally give in. She skips around the counter as if she just won the lottery and smashes into me with a hug, "I promise I'll try to make it fun." She mumbles into my shoulder. I rest my cheek against her hair with a slight smile, "thanks ash."
"I can't get over how good you look! You're definitely getting a man tonight! AOWWW!" Ash yelps out as we walk from the car. This spaghetti strapped red dress is the most revealing thing I've ever worn, and it hugs my curves just right. I have to admit, I do look good and I feel amazing but I've never been out like this. I've always covered myself because of my own insecurities. "Why do I feel .. naked?" I say bashfully. "You're fine! Look at those legs!" She gives me the Debby Ryan smile as she tucks her curly thick hair behind her ear. "I'd date you myself ya know," as she cuffs my arm with hers and laughs. "Ok stopppp, creep," I laugh with her as we near the entrance of the restaurant. I go to reach for the door handle but I'm stopped by a soft, heart stopping deep voice, "allow me," he speaks as his fair skinned hand pulls the door open. I turn around to meet eyes with heaven. His tall, prince like figure shadows over my back as I back up enough to let the door swing open. I feel my ears heat up like the summer sun in July. He looks down at me with a wide white smile, as his black hair falls over his eyebrows. A blanket of chills fall over my body and suddenly, I'm not hungry. "Why Thank you." I'm snapped out of my trance by ash's voice. What just happened? I stumble forward as if I'm intoxicated. I can feel the warmth from his chest blanketing my back even though he's not that close to me in line. "T-table for two," I stutter to the host as she greets me with a smile. "Right this way." She grabs the menus and leads us. My body grows cold as I'm lead away from.. him. The ambience of the restaurant slowly drowns out and I drift off into thought. I've never seen anyone like him before, his lips rose pink, his eyes full of stars, his voice was like the finest chocolate— silky, smooth, deep. "Are you going to sit?" The surrounding sounds are back. I notice ash has already made herself comfortable and is looking up at me as if she's concerned. "Oh— uh .. sorry" I stutter embarrassingly and sit immediately, adjusting myself. She searches my eyes, "You ok?" "Yes I'm fine." I look at her giving a reassuring smile. "Let's order drinks.." I proceed.
"Oh my god, I needed that!" I exaggerate as we exit the restaurant. "The food was so good.." Ash adds. "Thank you, really. I had a such a good time." I tilt towards her shoulder cuffing her arm giving her a warm smile. "Ahh it's no problem. Anything for my girl. You looked so thrown away, I had to get you out of there." She rubs my arm. We split as we approach the car. I look back towards the restaurant, the flashbacks of him and his scent drown my thoughts again. I close my eyes introducing him as my new happy place. "Y/n!" Dammittttt. "Girl do you need a doctor?" I cackle, "no! Gosh, let's go." I throw myself into the passenger seat. Is this love at first sight? So many questions run through my mind. Why didn't I get his name? Where did he go? Did he think I was pretty? I snap on my seat belt. The last time I felt like this was with my ex, when we were in love. No, no, absolutely not. I can't fall like this again. My hearing chimes in and I'm interrupted by Ashley's constant bickering about how she thinks I'm still stuck on Chris. "Please can we not? I'm not thinking about him anymore." I stop her sentence, as she drives off. "Well, something is invading your mind. You need to get laid." "I'm fine, really." I shuffle in my seat and look out of my window. Will I ever see him again?
