Samantha
They say "you don't know what you have until it's gone" but what happens when you really had nothing to begin with? We live in a land where so many people are ungrateful and yet they turn a blind eye to those who had nothing. Not my family and though their heart was in the right place, they paid the ultimate price....
Growing up I was a good girl who got everything I asked for. I kept my grades up, helped out in the kitchen developing a passion for baking and cooking, played a bit of tennis here and there. I stayed out of trouble, obeyed everything my parents said and wanted me to do. I got the best gifts for my birthday and honestly I was happy. Then there was that dreaded fire. All my hard earned trophies and certificates gone, all my pretty dresses turned to ashes and my family gone. All because my parents wanted to be good people and open our house to our cousins who's house caught fire.
Turns out my cousin was some fire brat who couldn't control his temper. One night his parents were out to work and he was left with us like we're babysitters. I was woken up by screens and shouts of terror as flames engulfed everything around us. He laid there with fire pulsing from his body. My father used the extinguisher from the kitchen to put out the flames emitting from him. My parents rushed to get us out the house because we were too small to know what was going on or how to handle it and we didn't have the strength to break through the debris and ash. They got us out safely and my cousin was still passed out, then there was a loud "CRASH!!",then a "BOOM!!!". Ash, fire and debris came flying like a whip, my parents got hit sending them flying with a fiery whale. It all happened so fast, my head started pounding, my heart was racing, the distant sounds of sirens rang and soon everything went black.
I woke up the next day to the news "my parents didn't make, the house was in ash and my cousin was getting send off to some place called The Sanctuary".
Ever since then, I've changed, I've been working hard to get what I want and ensuring that no one gets one over my head. Kindness led to toxic company causing me to lose everything. Now I make sure that those around me (if I allow any) are legit. Many persons don't like me because the say "I'm loud" or "easy to put you down for messing with me". At the end of the day "You mess with the scorpion, you'll get up close and personal with the stinger". Calm like the ocean and just as rough and destructive, with these new powers over water I will ensure no one causes me to lose ANYTHING EVER AGAIN....
