The Date.

At first, I ignored the tapping, thinking it was a bird or squirrel or something like that. Then it started getting louder and louder. I finally got up and walked to the bedroom. I opened the window and saw Bryon standing there.

"Holy shit! What are you doing here?" I asked.

"When you didn't show up for our date, I knew something was wrong. So I came over," he explained.

"I'm sorry I didn't show up. My brother put me under house arrest for a bad grade," I said.

He smiled. His smile reminded me of Soda's. Both were equally as heartwarming and equally as charming. But something about Bryon's was different. The way his eyes lit up as he smiled and the way his dimples appeared could make lots of girls get butterflies.

"No problem. But does house arrest mean we can't go out?" He asked.

I smiled back. "No. I'll be out in a few minutes," I said.

I closed the window and looked at my blushing face in the mirror. Then I came to the sudden realization that I'd have to sneak out for the first time in my life. But it's not really sneaking out if there was no one home, right? I kept this thought in my mind as I put on a nicer outfit. I put on my nicest skirt and a white t- shirt. I put some light pink lipgloss on and threw on some white sneakers. I let my hair stay down, but took a hair tie with me just in case.

After getting ready, I walked outside and linked hands with Bryon.

"So what time do I have to get you back? I really don't feel like getting my ass kicked," he asked with a chuckle.

"My oldest brother gets back at 8:00. So I want to be back at the house by 7:45," I responded.

"Cool. That's plenty of time," he said.

We walked to a nearby diner and sat down. We each ordered a milkshake with extra whipped cream.

"So what did you do to get grounded?" Bryon asked.

"I got a bad grade in Spanish class," I explained.

Bryon chuckled. "Can't have that, can we?" He asked sarcastically.

"Shut up," I said, letting out a little laugh.

Bryon and I met at a tutoring session. His mom had hired me to help him in English class. I agreed and that's when we started hanging out. Ever since then, we've been meeting up in secret.

"I'm just messing with you. You know that you're smart and that you'll get over that bad grade," he said.

"I know. But my brother thinks that I'm slacking," I said.

"Ask him what his grades were in high school," he said.

"No thanks. I'd rather not get my ass beat," I said.

He chuckled again. "You're funny," he said.

"What? You're surprised?" I asked and raised my eyebrow.

"No. I'm just stating a fact," he said.

I smiled at him and then smiled at the waitress as she brought our milkshakes. I took a sip.

"Didn't know they had good milkshakes here," I said.

"Yeah my mom and I used to come here all the time," he said.

"I come with my brothers but we always get burgers," I explained.

"Where do you want to go after this?" Bryon asked. He licked some whipped cream off of his fingers.
