"What...what is going on? Are you actually here? Or is this some kind of prank?"
Mother strode up to me, with a soft, sad smile.
"You have no idea how long I've waited to see you..." She whispered.
Honestly, mother looked the same she did years ago, when she went missing. Not a single grey hair, she looked as young as ever.
"What's going on? What do you mean? I thought you were..."
"Dead? Oh, no, no. I've simply...been doing some things."
Samuel was by the piano, he did not meet my gaze.
"But why? Why did you just leave me?" I said, biting back sobs. "How could you?"
She paused. "I had always planned to come back, Lucy. I promise."
"Oh, but look how convenient it is that you didn't."
"Lucy, I understand that you're hurt."
"Hurt doesn't even begin to describe it! You let me believe you were dead! And now I find out that this is all an act? That you just left me? That all my tears and suffering were for nothing?"
I knew Natsu was watching somewhere, so I tried my best to stifle my cries. But to no avail. Tears began to slip down my cheeks.
"Lucy I left because if I stayed I would only end up hurting the people I loved!" My mother exclaimed, her voice steadily rising.
"Oh, and by pretending you were dead you didn't hurt us?"
Honestly, I don't know why I was so mad. I always imagined if I met my mother again it'd all be sunshine and rainbows. But to find out she just left me, I felt betrayed. Abandoned.
"Lucy, I have a secret that I've been keeping from you." She whispered in a hushed voice.
She looked to Samuel. "Samuel, please leave." He did without a second thought.
She then looked to me. "Tell Natsu to leave, too."
"But how--"
"I can smell him."
"You can what?"
"Never mind. It will all make sense when I tell you."
I nodded halfheartedly, not knowing if I would regret this.
"Natsu, you heard her."
And suddenly a pink blur jumped down from the balcony, where he had been watching us, to make sure I stayed safe.
"Lucy I--"
I waved him off with a forced smile. "I'm fine, Natsu. Really. Now hurry, I'll be back soon."
He hesitated, looking at mother, then to me, before he finally left.

"You see Lucy I...I'm not normal." She said, her voice cracking.
"Not normal? What do you mean?"
"Lucy, I'm not a person, not a mortal."
"You what?" I questioned, confused.
"I'm a demon, Lucy."
And that's when someone hit me over the head so hard I blacked out.
