Chapter 4; Meeting the Dikkus

"Do you know her?" A man Asked Irfan

Irfan only nodded not knowing what to say. He noticed a Man too unconscious and he concluded it was her driver
He mumbled an astagfirullah under his breath. He scooped her in his arm and ran to his car. He kept her and with the help of people, he kept the man too in the car and speed to the hospital

Khadija's parents arrived in no time after receiving the news of what happened to their daughter and driver. Irfan got their number from Khadija's phone. He searched her pocket and found her phone so he called her parents to tell them the location.

"Bawan Allah how's my daughter? What happened to her?" Hajia Sumayya Nawal Dikku asked jogging to where Irfan sat on the wating chair. Senator Nawal Dikku walked in too with the air of authority surrounding him even thou he made no attempt to show that. He was in a hurry and worried about his daughter's condition.

Irfan stood up in haste greeting both the parents. They answered before he said,
"I'm also waiting because none of the doctors said something"

Hajia sumayya sighed raising her head up to stop tears from falling. Her husband sighed and engulfed her in a hug drawing soothing circles on her back. He then turned to Irfan "What about the driver?"

Irfan sighed. "He's okay and is in the ward room. He only got few injuries."

Ummatti rose her head from her husband's chest, "How? I thought they had the accident together."

Irfan gulped nodding slightly "You know, mostly in an accident, the passenger is always affected the most and not the driver."

Ummatti busted into a cry burying her head more in her husband's chest "It's all my fault! If I had left her to stay at home, she wouldn't have met this accident. She would have been at home now. Maybe that was why she woke up late but I forced her..."

Abbiey cut his wife off hugging her tightly. He hates seeing her in this condition " Shh! Stop saying that Sumayya. This was already destined to happen and with or without her going, it would happen if really it was destined to happen. All she needs now is your prayer."

Irfan couldn't hold it anymore. He left the place wiping off a lone tear

"Bawan Allah, you didn't tell us your name."

Irfan smiled at Alhaji Nawal. In short time he liked the Man and his wife "I'm Irfan-" He stopped contemplating on whether to stop here or go on "- Irfan Ahmed Bayero."

"Wait Ahmed Bayero? The known Alahji Bayero? CEO AB Nigeria limited?" Irfan nodded, as a small smile danced on his lips
"I know your Father. We usually meet at our resting spot." Abbiey said with a small smile dancing on his lips. Irfan couldn't help but smile

"Thank you for saving-"

Irfan cut him off shaking his head with a smile

"Don't mention Senator. I didn't do anything."

"You did my son and appreciate that. I even have to talk to your Dad and please call me Abbiey" His lips spread into a sad smile
"That is what my Daughter calls me with."

Irfan set his lips into a straight line as a sad smile made it's way to his lips "It's Okay ... Abbiey." Their smiles short lived as Rayhana and Rufai came into the room in a hurry. Hajia summaya who sat down on the visitor's chair, intertwined her fingers with Khadija's as she peacefully slept on the hospital bed turned. She was listening to Irfan and her husband's conversation since

"Abbiey, Ummatti, how's baby sis?" Rufai asked moving to where his mother was sitting beside Khadija. Rayhana also moved and went to where Khadija was sitting beside her on the bed.

Ummatti sniffed "She's getting some sleep for now."

Both Rufai and Rayhana nodded moving their gaze from their Mother to Khadija. Rufai noticed Irfan who sat close to their Father. Irfan noticed the gaze Rufai was sending him, so he stood up and approached Rufai offering his hand for a handshake. Rufai slipped his hand into the Man's hand and forced a smile

"I'm Irfan"

"Rufai" He replied with a confused expression. He glanced At Abbiey for feedback while Abbiey smiled "He saved your sister's life Rufai."

Rufai's mouth formed and o shape and then spread into a smile "Thank you Irfan."

Irfan only smiled nodding his head. They all tilted their heads as they heard a yell from Rahana "She's awake!" She said smiling widely. They all smiled and approached them. Khadija offered them a weak smile sitting properly with the help of Rayhana and Ummatti. Her smile short lived as her gaze met Irfan's gaze who was at the back

What the hell is Mr odious doing here? She said to herself as she recognised the face. She didn't even know she can recognise his face since she didn't even stare at him clearly on their first meeting. Rayhana and Ummatti hugged her tightly beginning a water works session. Rufai and Abbiey teased them calling them cry babies

Realisation dawned on Abbiey as he remembered Irfan who was staring at them smiling. Especially Khadija. He noticed something but kept it to himself as he realised it isn't the best time to talk about that

"Auta, this-" Khadija cut her father off

"Wai Abbiey you keep saying Auta, Auta. I'm too big to be called that." She pouted making the others laugh. Rufai stood up and went to inform the doctor about her waking up

"Even if you reach 70 years when I'm alive, I won't stop calling you Auta"

"To ai you're old already dama and there's no way I'm reaching 70 years old when you're alive and even if you reach, I'm sure you can't differentiate between white and Black. You're almost 85 years Old now I think." She teased her Father making him slightly pinch her leg

"Aa don't wound my daughter." Ummatti said pushing his hand away form Khadija's skin while Khadija stuck her tongue at him. He smiled shaking his head and he turned to a serious facade "Khadija, this is Irfan"

She smiled and looked at Irfan. So that is his name! "Oh Irfan Nice to meet you" She skipped the part that she's supposed to thank him. Is it obligatory for her to thank him? He did it for the sake of Allah right? so there's no need for her to thank him.

Irfan didn't complain because she didn't thank him. He smiled and decided to pull up with the act but he he's still the odious Man he is so he decided to tease her "Nice to meet you Autar Abbiey."

The two parents and Also Rayhana laughed
