Niyah

I'm so glad I got back into the habit of writing. Putting everything down on paper is the best feeling I get and with the writing class I take at Hunter I actually get a grade for it, which makes it 10xs better. Hunter is a great school and it's a lot of work, of course, because its college; but nothing I can't handle. Having twins made a lot of this difficult, but on my worst days these two make it so much better. Brandon helps me out a lot and I'm so glad he's the one I had Lailani and Ashton with, imagine if it was Christian?! That would be HORRIBLE. He went off to play football at UCLA anyways, at least someone got to live their dream. Even though Brandon and I did get to move into a nice house on the Upper East Side, it's like we're mini adults already. A family, our own house, now all I need is that ring and I'm straight.

There was a loud, demanding knock at the front door, interrupting my writing. I looked over at Lailani and Ashton, they were awake, but really quiet. I ran my hand through Lailani's hair and she smiled up at me. I kissed both of their heads and there were a few more loud knocks at the door. Whoever it is better have a good ass reason, but knowing my mother it's her crazy ass. I looked through the peep hole and saw two police officers. What? I opened the door and smiled, "Hello officers, how can I help you?"

"We're looking for a Niyah Hernandez?" My heart started beating hella fast, I automatically thought it had something to do with Brandon. Why else would they be here?

"I'm Niyah? Is it Brandon? Is he okay?" One reached for his handcuffs and my eyebrows furrowed as I backed up. "Uh what you tryna do with those?"

"You're under arrest for the murder of Kayla Johnson."

"Wait, woah, what?" The cop walked in and grabbed my arm forcing me against the wall, putting cuffs on me. "You mean Kayla, psycho Kayla? I didn't murder her?!" He read me my rights and started pushing me out of the door. "I didn't even know the girl was dead!"

"Yeah yeah, whatever."

"My 2 month old twin babies are upstairs in their crib! You can't do this! I didn't do anything!" He threw me into the back of the car and slammed the door. "I'll stay here until the father comes back, you take her downtown."

I looked out the window and tried hard to wake up from this nightmare. Why would they think I murdered Kayla? I don't care about that girl, I have two freaking newborns at home I'm not worried about her ass at all. And I've been through comas, teen pregnancy, and all the emotions in the world; but this right here is something else.

7:40 p.m.

"Hernandez!" I looked up at the guard at gate calling me. "Your boyfriend is here." I smiled and got up as he opened the gate and let me through. I followed him to where Brandon was and ran up and hugged him like I haven't seen him in years. I was only in there for a few hours, but a few hours felt like days.
