Heartbreak

"Daddy..."
"Hey Honey." Zee opened his arms.

Angel still stood like a statue next to Saint's father.

"It's alright Honey... You can hug your father... Gently and carefully." The older man urged her.

She turned to Mrs Udomkaewkanjana and the older woman smiled encouragingly at her.

"Daddy..." Angel took a few steps and Zee smiled at her.
"I am fine Honey... They took out the horrible things in me and now I am PERFECT!"
"Daddy..." Angel began crying as Zee hugged his daughter.
"Don't cry... I am doing so well that I can go home by tomorrow!"
"You will?" Angel asked him.
"Yes... We are going to stay at the beach house for a few days and then we will go home to Bangkok." Zee explained to her.
"What about Daddy Saint? Will Daddy Saint stay with us?"
"That... That I don't know Honey." Zee answered.
"Is he still busy?"
"We have to ask him." Zee told her.
"Daddy..."
"Yes Baby?"
"Don't ever fall sick ever like forever and ever EVER again." Angel murmured.
"I can try... But I can't promise you that... Because we can fall sick at anytime... Like when you fell and hurt your knees... When I hurt my tummy... When Uncle Joss  fell off from his motorbike..."
"I was so scared Daddy."
"I know... I was scared myself... But we have doctors who can take care of us and give us medicine..."
"I want to be a doctor and give you medicine." Angel whispered.
"Of course you can." Zee said and kissed her forehead.
"Zee... Where's my son?"
"I think he told me that he's having a conference call... Maybe he's at the cafeteria somewhere." Zee replied.
"By the way... Mr... Mrs Udomkaewkanjana... Thank you so much for being here taking care of Angel." He told them.
"Mr... Mrs? Zee... What did we tell you about being sooo formal." Mrs Udomkaewkanjana smiled.
"We're family... She is our granddaughter... I lost a few years of my life when she called my husband! I've never seen her like that." She stared down at Angel who was still hugging her father.
"Thank you..." Zee smiled at her.
"If we were a little late..." Mrs Udomkaewkanjana closed her eyes and her husband quickly comforted her.
"Well... Zee is safe. That is the most important thing." Mr Udomkaewkanjana pointed.
"Just remember the next time Zee... Please see the doctor... You are like our teenage sons..." He made a face making Zee smiled in embarrassment.
"I am blessed actually... I've cheated death twice..." Zee  whispered.
"Do not try to cheat it the third time." Mr Udomkaewkanjana muttered.
"I won't... I promise! I have Angel to take care of." Zee smiled and kissed her temple.
"Hey... Aren't you tried of hugging me?" He asked Angel while playfully poking her sides.

She giggled and let him go.

"Daddy... Why can't you go home now?"
"I have to wait for the doctor to check on me... If he says I'm fine... Then I can head home with you." Zee explained.
"Angel... Your father needs to rest... Why don't we wait at the beach house?" Mrs Udomkaewkanjana suggested.

    Angel pouted but she did not say anything. Her tiny arms slowly wrapped around Zee's arm making the adults smiled at her reaction.

"I have some of your puppies brought here you know." Mrs Udomkaewkanjana shared and the little girl immediately perked up.
"They miss you." She added.
"They do?" Angel asked and smiled.
"Definitely." Mr Udomkaewkanjana nodded.

    Zee stared at the two people and mouthed a thank you.

"Shall we?" Mr Udomkaewkanjana said.
"Daddy Saint is here with me... So he can take care of me." Zee coaxed her.
"What if he has a meeting? He ALWAYS has meetings!" Angel muttered in frustration.
"No... No... He doesn't have any meetings today." Zee lied.
"Promise me that you will be home Daddy."
"I promise Honey." Zee whispered and kissed her nose.
"Love you Honey."
"Love you Daddy!"

    The door to his room opened and Saint walked in.

"Hey Beautiful!" He picked Angel up and hugged her.
"We're heading back to the beach house." Mr Udomkaewkanjana told Saint.
"Grandma brought the puppies." Angel gushed.
"Oh really?"
"Uhuhhhh... I missed you Daddy Saint..."
"I missed you too Sweetheart." Saint murmured and kissed her cheeks.
"We better get going... We've ready the master bedroom for Zee when he is discharged."
"Thanks Dad."
"See you when I get home Angel." Zee waved his hand.
