The pale silver behind Loki's eyes was something you used to nickname "the moon in the dark sky". They were beautifully haunting and you could get lost in them, but that's just what love did to you. It blinded you. It was like a stealthy fog, slowly trapping you in a prison of your own making.
"Hello, my darling." He lovely smiled to you. His body was between the exit and you, trapping you on your own bedroom.
"No." You took a step behind, your hands searching for the hidden knife you usually keep hidden in the back of some pictures on the nightstand. It wasn't there. "Stay away from me."
"Love," Loki opened his arms, inviting you to a sweet, poisoned embrace. "are you feeling alright? You look ill."
This wasn't an hallucination, no, this was something else. Someone messing with you. Loki had a charming yet mocking smile, watching you with malicious intent, although he tried to hide it from you. You were afraid this was a game for him, or however this was. Your heart was beating faster by the second and you had to do something about this situation.
Your phone suddenly began to ring, but to your unfortunate luck, it was closer to Loki than to you. He noticed the moment you prepared to make a run for it.
"Ah, ah, ah." He tsked, "We are having a moment. Miss Romanoff will have to wait, I'm afraid."
"Who are you?" You asked, grabbing one of the framed pictures to throw at him in hopes of hurting him somehow, or maybe you could break it and use the glass as a weapon. "What do you want from me?"
Loki raised an eyebrow, that stupid smirk of his never fading from his lips.
"What kind of questions are those, (Y/N)?" A barely audible gasp left your lips as he pronounced your name. It had been such a long time since you last heard it from his mouth, and the way he said it was almost as if he was...himself. Not an imposter, but Loki. Your Loki. "Come here, let me see if you're sick."
"I'm not-" You lowered the framed photo, your eyes meeting with his as tears formed in your eyes. "Is it...really you?"
A few seconds of eye-gazing and Loki slowly nodded, waiting for you to take the next step, which you did. In slow footsteps, you approached his taller figure and placed a hand on his cheek. You had to see how real this was.
All too real.
With a heavy beating heart, you pushed Loki away with a harsh move. The hallways felt like they were getting longer and thinner when you're being chased. His thoundering voice echoed in the back of your head as he laughed at your desperate attempt to escape.
"Don't leave me, darling," You closed yourself in the guests' bedroom. Your heart was ringing on your ears. "You promised to love me forever." He banged on the door once and twice and his laughter soon died out. Loki was getting impatient with your behavior. "Come on now, love. It's very rude of you."
You searched around for a hidden phone inside the bedroom. It was a trick you thought about a long time ago and perhaps one of the only things Loki didn't find out. As time went by, you were beginning to take too long and the only thing that distracted you from your search was the awful silent that befell the house. It was cold again, but a strange cold; like you were shrinking inside your own body. The danger of something you couldn't see yet sense. Being alone yet accompanied. Blacks stops began to cover your vision and you held onto the bed for support.
"(Y/N)? (Y/N)!" You gasped as you recognized the voice; Natasha was here. Maybe Loki left when she arrived. You heard more steps which showed she was not alone. Oh, finally light in the end of the tunnel.
"Natasha!" You ran to her arms, hugging her as if life itself depended on it. Tears ran freely down your cheeks as you laughed in pure disbelief; the room was full of SWAT teams. "Oh I'm so glad you're here."
"What happened? Are you okay?" You looked up at her with a slight smile. You never thought you'd be so happy to see her.
"Loki was here. He's back but something is wrong with him." The mere thought of him was enough to send a shiver down your spine. "We need to get out of here." Natasha was staring at you with a hollow expression and a strange glow on her eyes. "Nat?"
The men around you began to fade just like how it happened during the Blip but instead of turning to dust, it was glitchy-like with green smoke. A tight grip held your arms in place and a low chuckle was heard. Your feet were sinking on the floor and you held your breath; this was a nightmare and when you wake up, you'll realize this was all but a bad dream. None of it is real.
Mischievous eyes watched you from up close as a predator watches its prey. Awaiting your next move as some sort of sick game; will you run, scream or try to fight? Loki did love a good challenge after all; although sometimes it gets too tiring. No offense, but it can get old.
"Oh my sweet darling, I've never felt more alive than before, thank you for worrying about me." Loki commented with false sympathy, his tongue carried the poison of a snake. "You are so easy to fool. No offense, but you can be quite stupid sometimes. Did you not even notice the phone you were using was broken this entire time? You were talking to no one but yourself."
"No," You replied as memories you tried to suppress began to hit you. "No, you're lying."
Loki raised his brow in confusion, "When have I ever lied to you? I can tell you more on how entertaining it was to see you leaving our home thinking you're going to see Nat when instead you didn't even drive the car once you got inside it." You gasped in surprised and took a hand to cover your mouth. You shook your head and slammed your fists against him in anger and denial. It was of no use or affect.
"You bastard! Let go of me!" Loki all but laughed at your unsuccessful attemps at hurting him.
"Love, I'd adore to stay like this all day but we have somewhere else to be." You mouthed a 'what' at him in confusion. "Close your eyes, this may be a bit uncomfortable."
And with that, the God of Mischief returned.
