"So this is the Berkshire mansion huh?" I sighed as Luna and I followed Axel around the massive hallways.
The walls were lined with vintage paintings and gold-laced wallpaper. Trophies and golden vases sat isolated on wooden tables and shelves.
Enormous crystalized chandeliers hung from the tall ceilings. Big glass windows covered nearly every inch of the mansion.
The Berkshires always held some sort of Christmas party and this year, they chose the theme of a Masquerade Ball. That was a relief on my end since I didn't want to face anyone just yet.
And thank Merlin that Lorenzo wasn't going to be here.

"You two ready?" Axel called from outside the door.
Luna and I were sharing a guest room. The Berkshire's guest room was probably double the size of my room back at home.
"Coming!" Luna giggled as she jogged to the door, slowly creaking it open.
Axel grinned as soon as he saw her in her dress.
Luna was wearing a light lilac-colored dress with a slit at the bottom. Her hair was in a bun and she finished off the look with a white mask.
I followed close behind her with my sage green flowy dress. They couldn't tell but I was extremely nervous.
I obviously preferred the small Christmas get-together with my friends at the Malfoy Manor, but ever since last year, I did not want to go back there.
"Let's go?" Axel said, raising an eyebrow.
Luna linked arms with him and I did with her. The three of us walking down the brightly lit hallways together.

My breath slowed as we got closer to the ballroom.
I could already hear music and the sounds of people laughing.
I gulped as Axel gently pushed on the golden door handle, revealing the lively atmosphere of the ballroom.
Luna sense that I was feeling anxious, she held my hand tightly as Axel led us towards the crowd.
Everyone was wearing masks so it was even more nerve-racking since you couldn't see who you were talking to.
But maybe that was a good thing. Maybe not being myself for the night could make things a little easier.
I sighed as I slowly let go of Luna's hand as Axel invited her to dance.
I stood back, smiling widely at the sight of my two best friends.
They looked good together. It made me happy.
Couples danced rhythmically, moving in sync, melting under the sweet sounds of the music.
Moonlight shone into the room from the balcony, lighting up the room in mystical ways.
The atmosphere was amazing.
Christmas trees lined the walls of the room, each one strung with colorful lights and ornaments, topped with a golden angel.
I walked over to the beverage table. I smiled at a house-elf as she served me a glass of champagne.
I wasn't of age just yet, but no one had to know. I needed to enjoy myself tonight.
The champagne glistened under the bright lights. I took a sip, my face scrunched as I tasted the unfamiliar drink.
I spun on my heel, expecting to return to Luna and Axel when I bumped into a tall figure.
I looked up and saw a boy with thick brown hair. Although he was wearing a mask, I could see his gleaming hazel eyes looking down at me.
My face immediately gushed a light shade of pink.
"Oh I'm so sorry," I gasp, nearly spilling the champagne.
The stranger just smiled and offered his hand, inviting me to dance.
I was a little taken back by this offer, standing frozen for a few seconds.
I mean, what's the worse that could happen?
I set down my champagne glass at one of the tables and took the stranger's hand.
He led me through the crowd and into the middle of the ballroom.
The boy was wearing a black and white suit. Simple, but he still looked incredible. There was a certain charm to this stranger.
The music suddenly changed pace into a slow song.
The boy placed one hand on my waist.
There were instant butterflies as his hand grazed my body.
I placed one hand on his shoulder, the other held his hand.
As the thrumming rhythm of classical music played, we began to glide across the lacquered marble floor.
Our bodies were effortlessly in sync.
I looked up to gaze into the stranger's eyes.
It was a familiar feeling. Almost as if I knew this boy.
A smile crept onto my face as everyone around me disappeared, he was the only thing I could focus on.
He let go of my waist, spinning me around by my arm.
My dress twirled elegantly, slightly brushing against the floor.
The room around me began to spin.
The dizziness quickly faded away as I was swept into his arms once again.
We whirled around on the dance floor, completely unaware of the world around us, completely melting under each other's touch.
