Today was the day I had to pop into the gym for my first workout in a few days.
I decided I would invite James and Dylan, its been quite a while since we've been able to hang, so I thought why not it, would be fun to finally get together again. Sadly, we weren't able to hang out as often as we would have liked to anymore.
Soon enough as I was messing around on my phone, I had seen James and Dylan walking towards me.
Y/N: It's good to see you both again, it's been a few weeks.
James: yeah man, ready for this good workout we gotta do?
Y/N: of course, got to put in hard work to succeed.
After we talked for a bit, I ended up over at a mat and decided I would first start with a few reps of lateral Lunges, I kept my left leg out to a straight angle and my knee outwards to the right and began to squat down.
I did this about 10 more times and decided I would use the medicine ball. I grabbed the ball and squatted down, I then jumped up launching myself and the ball into the air. I did this 20 times before moving onto the pull up bar.
I glanced over at James and Dylan who were doing there own thing. Dylan was messing around with the weights, trying to decide what size to use, and James well, he was over on the treadmill.
I decided my goal was 15 to 20 pull ups today. I locked my hand onto the bar and pulled my body up, I held it for a few seconds and lowered myself back down. I did this 15 more times before my arms were beginning to weaken.
I popped in by Dylan and grabbed 2 45 pound weights. I looked over at Dylan who was still trying to determine what his limit would be today.
Y/N: still trying to find the right size huh?
Dylan: yeah but I'm not sure honestly, I'm thinking maybe going for 35 or 40
Y/N: I'm gonna try out 40 see how many reps I can get in.
I started lifting the weights, I ended up doing 3 sets of 10 for both arms.
Dylan eventually decided on using 40 pound weights as well.Next, I went ahead and walked over by James and hopped on the treadmill for a bit.
James: hey man, deciding to run for a bit?
Y/N: yeah man, my cardio hasn't really been the best the past few weeks, I've honestly been slacking off a bit.
James: I thought you were against slaking off.
Y/N: yeah, I know, I know I broke my own rule not exactly proud of myself.
I ran for the next 15 or so minutes, on different speed settings more so on 5 mph.
I then moved on to the battling ropes, first I did some power slams, this would help tire my muscles out for more a greater gain.
I did this around 25 times before my arms were to tired. I rested for a few minutes, I then moved onto wind cycles, this would mainly help my core and leg muscles strengthen. I spread my legs just enough and began the motion.
I spent the next 30 seconds doing certain motions, then rested for the next 30 seconds. I did this i'd say 4 times and moved onto the next station.
For my next workout and probably my last of the day, I decided to end with a deadlift, I put on a belt strap put on two 75 pound weights on each side and proceeded to lift. It was hard but I completed the lift.
I took the belt off and walked over to James who was sitting on the bench nearby.
Y/N: so what all did you do so far?
James: well, first I ran on the treadmill for around 15 minutes, then I moved onto the weights. Afterwards did some workouts with the medicine ball and a few pull ups, what about you?
Y/N: my workout was pretty similar actually. I only really did 1 thing different than you.
Dylan walked over to the two of us after he was done with his last workout.
Dylan: hey, sorry guys but I gotta head out, I hope we can do this again soon. It's been a while since we could work out together, and I enjoyed it.
Y/N: of course man, just hit me up whenever you can. I'll definitely workout with you if I can, I'd never miss the opportunity.
Dylan talked with us for a bit and soon walked away after saying his goodbyes.
Y/N: so, what do you say we have a go at the court here?
James: No way, you read my mind bro
We got up and walked to the court.
I grabbed a ball and shot a few free throws. While James was messing around doing layups and mid range shots, I decided to test my three point shot, I stood from the left corner and shot up. The first shot made it in.
James: nice one
Y/N: well let's see how many I can make in a row.
I shot one three pointer after another I ended up with 8 made shots in a row but missed my 9th and 10th.
Y/N: damn, I was doing pretty good there but messed up at the end
James: you were but can't always do perfect, so anyway, best out of ten?
Y/N: You know what? Your on, I'll even let you go first.
James started shooting his 10 shots and ended up making 8 of them.
James: ha, beat that, I'll even place a 100 dollar wager on it if you can.
Y/N: Are you sure about that, I don't know if I am.
James: Why, are you afraid to lose 100 bucks?
Y/N: nah, I don't like taking money from friends.
James: Cocky, I like it.
I then shot all of my 10 three pointers and made 9 of 10. I only missed my last one.
James: man that's some dumb luck right there.
Y/N: nah man, I'm just built different.
James: you made 1 more shot than I did, anyway I'll place another friendly wager of 100 for a 1 on 1 if your down?
Y/N: I ain't scared, of course I will, I'll even double it if I lose.
James: Very bold of you L/N
