Several days later. . .
A blackspawn that risked it all.
"Whew, I'm glad I wasn't there." Diego groaned, Sandra's voice interrupting his thoughts. A tray of food clattered onto the table as she sat down on the small seat beside him, biting into her pizza ravenously.
"Yeah." Diego nodded his head, taking another bite of his food. Great, this is just what he needed. A speaker that didn't have a volume knob.
"Thanks for saving us seats as well." Diego glanced to his side, Peter sitting in the seat beside him. Danielle sat across from Diego, and Linda sat across from the perfect blond.
"Yeah, whatever." He rolled his eyes, smirking. So much had happened in just a few days, it was hard to believe that today was normal. He liked the feeling of going back to normal with his friends.
Are they? He peered at each of them individually.
Danielle doesn't want to be, Sandra is a definite no-no, and I don't know Linda. That leaves Mr. Perfect.
"Why are you staring at me?" Pieces of lettuce hung from Peter's mouth, and Diego chuckled to himself. Even if they weren't friends, the three of them were stuck together now. They had gone through a lot.
"Just thinking about how much of a moron you are." Danielle stood up but Peter just laughed, shaking his head.
"It's fine, he's joking, Danielle." She glanced at Diego and saw his smile, before sitting back down sheepishly. Linda peered inquisitively at the two but otherwise paid no mind.
"These are your friends, Diego?" He grumbled, turning his head and staring at Sandra.
Are they?
"Yeah. They are." She didn't seem to take note of the hostility in his voice and continued to beam a perfectly content smile.
Maybe he isn't perfect. Maybe he's normal. Diego took another bite of his sandwich, enjoying the flavor of the turkey and cheese. Such an underrated sandwich.
"Yo, Diego." He turned his head, looking at Peter with a curious expression. "Do you really-" A large smile appeared on the blonde's face, before he shook his head, staring at his plate.
"Nevermind. I know the answer." He put another forkful of lettuce in his mouth, nodding contently. Diego glanced at Danielle and they both shrugged simultaneously.
"I've become acquainted with Diego, although who are the others, Peter?" Linda spoke softly, glancing at Sandra and Danielle next to her with a polite smile.
"This is Danielle, and that's Sandra over there, whom I don't know very well." Danielle smiled at Linda, and Sandra did a well exaggerated "It's nice to meet you again!". Although Diego still didn't like Peter that much, he found him preferable to chihuahua on a sugar buzz over there.
I don't like her, she's too bubbly. At least Linda is calm, but it's like she's constantly on guard. He glanced toward Linda, her blonde hair shielding her eyes from his view.
"Diego, is it true you teleported?" Linda's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He swallowed the bite of his sandwich, glancing at Danielle. When they were younger, he had told her because he was convinced it was the right thing to do, and that she knew everything in the world. Neither turned out to be true.
