Chapter 2:
Sloane:
“I wouldn’t be surprise if you kissed that.”
An amused voice rang out, disrupting the silence around Sloane. She looked up to find her brother, Mike, smirking at her. Sloane gave him a half smile, and then continued to look at the ring. The gorgeous piece of jewellery interested her; there was a certain kind of mystery behind it. A nagging feeling hit her, the same feeling that she had felt ever since she stole the ring a couple days ago.
“Sloane, what’s wrong with you?”
For the second time, Sloane looked up, but this time it was her mother staring at her with a snobby look. Sloane rolled her eyes; even though she would never admit it out loud, she hated her mother. She was too proud and too snobby, Sloane preferred her father. At least he understood her, even though she never got to see him much due to his famous business.
“Put that ugly ring away, oh, my eyes!” Patricia, Sloane’s mother shouted out. She turned away and walked back upstairs to her room, her hands rubbing her eyes ever so gently.
Sloane frowned at her mother, and then glanced at the ring. To her, it was the most beautiful ring her eyes ever allowed her to see. The way it was craved, the way the gem was rusty but still undeniably gorgeous at the same time. This ring intrigued her, and she wasn’t about to give it up.
“I think it’s beautiful.” Mike commented before skipping upstairs.
Sloane smiled a little and then quickly took off her silky shawl and hoop earrings, throwing them across her dresser. She slipped on a leather jacket over her black lace top and headed out to the city; hoping to find a store good enough to steal from.
**
Sloane’s frozen hands wrapped around the sleek lines of the peacock feather. A low humming noise escaped her throat, followed by a lot more humming of her favourite song. She stuffed the peacock feather in her jacket’s pocket and started to slowly back up, her face showing a clear emotion of distaste; fooling everyone around her to think that she didn’t like anything in the store.
Sloane dragged her feet backwards and she turned around, her shoes skid across the slippery surface of the floor and she fell into warm arms. Her lips brushed against a silky coat and she yelped, quickly straightening up.
Her terrified eyes met concerned ones. They seemed to sparkle at her, the blue orbs looking even more beautiful. Sloane quickly realized that this was a guy, but not just any guy; he was gorgeous. His cheekbones were set perfectly, and his lips were slightly apart. He came at 5’6, way taller than Sloane. Heat quickly rose to her cheeks as her eyes drifted to the ground.
“Give me love like, never before…cause’ lately I’ve been craving more.” He sang, smirking at her.
A throaty gasp escaped Sloane’s lips, and a small smile tugged at her lips as she made out of what he was singing; her favourite song that she had been humming not too long ago. Sloane shifted on her feet nervously, before mumbling a sorry.
“It’s alright,” The guy chuckled, “It gave me a familiar feeling of holding a petite body against mine. Haven’t really felt that in a while.”
Sloane focused on his British accent; it was such a pleasant sound to hear. She gave him a sad smile and nodded in agreement. The guy looked at her intently; as if he was trying to figure her out. This only made her blush deeper.
“Carson Sea, love.” The guy said, suddenly grabbing Sloane’s hand and planting a soft kiss.
Sloane slowly pulled her hand back, her skin tingling at where he kissed her. She gave him a sweet smile and said “Sloane Taylor.” Carson grinned and nodded approvingly. Sloane started walking away after a moment of silence, but what Carson said made her freeze.
