Amy rubbed her eyes. She climbed out of bed, nearly stepping on Kaiden. Amy remembered last night. She sighed. Amy got dressed, picked up a notebook and began jotting down ideas for songs. Amy loved singing and songwriting, but had never told anyone this. Only 1 other person knew and they were...

Kaiden stirred. He groaned as he sat up. "Ugggg it wasn't just a dream!" he groaned again. "Oi, dipshit, come downstairs and eat breakfast!" Amy said. Kaiden stood up, still in his uniform from the day before. "Okay, we need to go by your house, because I'm not lending you my uniform." Amy said, staring at how crinkled his clothes were.

"Morning!" Amy called as she walked downstairs. Her parents were eating breakfast in the living room. Mina, her cat (the one that would eat try to eat Kaiden) purred as Amy walked downstairs. "On my way to school I need to go by Kaiden's house." she hiked a thumb to where Kaiden stood, a few steps behind her. Her mum bit her lip and nodded.

Amy grabbed the leftover pancakes, putting them into a container. She speed-packed her lunch, then turned around. "Bye, see you this arvo!" she called, shutting the front door. Kaiden stared at her. "Lead the way to your house!" Amy cried. She followed Kaiden down the path.

When they got there, Kaiden walked inside, and went straight to his room, walking past his worried parents. Amy walked towards them, clearing her throat. "So first, he's not cheating on Hazel. Rather the opposite. Hazel's been cheating on him for a while, he found out yesterday. He was gonna walk in front of a truck, but I stopped him. I invited him over so he didn't hurt himself. By the way, I'm Amy and I moved here yesterday."

Kaiden parents looked shocked. "We-we saw the note he left.. but didn't think he'd try to..." His mum started, her eyes welling up. Kaiden's dad hugged her. "Thank you." Amy nodded. "I convinced him to stay the night at my place, I thought he needed to talk to someone. I told him to text you." She told Kaiden's parents. "I start at his school tomorrow, I'll keep an eye on him,m after all he's gonna show me around." Amy grinned.

Kaiden walked downstairs, dressed in a new uniform. "More like, you said that in exchange for you convincing myself not to commit suicide, I'd show you around." He muttered. He walked past his parents. Amy grabbed his arm. "No you don't. Your parents were clearly worried sick. Talk to them." She let go of his arm. "I'll give you some privacy." She walked out the front door.

While Kaiden talked to his parents, Amy stood outside the door. I hope I can help him the way I couldn't help her, she thought. Amy sighed. She couldn't, no, she wouldn't get stuck in the past. Not today, not ever. She had new problems to deal with, like trying to keep a cute ass-hole from killing himself.

Amy looked at her feet. He wasn't that cute... was he? Amy shook her head. Kaiden may look okay, but he was a depressed little shit who needed help. Amy didn't like him, she just didn't want him to die. Like she'd just met the guy, and she didn't have any feelings for him. None at all. Totally. She didn't. She just wants to help him. Totally.

Kaiden walked out the door. Amy followed him down the path. "So we going to school now?" Kaiden asked. Amy nodded. "Lead the way." Kaiden sighed, and turned a corner. They walked in silence until Kaiden stopped suddenly. "Whats the matter?" asked Amy. Kaiden pointed a shaking hand towards a seemingly un-important part of the street.

"Th-that's where Hazel and I met up everyday." He said. Kaiden's eyes welled. Amy lightly smacked him "Don't dwell on the past, keep walking forward." Kaiden sighed, wiping his eyes. "The past? Its only been a day since..." he got choked up, and looked away. "Even what you just said, seconds ago, is the past now. Unless you want to be haunted by the past, I suggest you live in the moment." Amy told him.

"But what if I don't want to forget the past?" Kaiden asked, wiping his eyes. He started walking again. Amy walked next to him. "I swear, when I see that bitch of your ex, Imma punch her!" She declared. "Don't hurt Hazel!" Kaiden said, turning to Amy. "Why not?" "Because I still care about her. And doing that will make the whole school hate you. She's the most popular girl, Percy is the most popular guy." Amy looked confused. "I thought you were the most popular guy?"

"I was. After Hazel..." He looked away. "After she... did what she did, everything I have is gone." He said, wiping his eyes again. Amy sighed. "Either way, I see her I'll-" Amy got cut-off by two guys walking up to them. "Bro, we heard what went down yesterday!" One of them said. The other boy nodded. "Percy's such a di-" he got elbowed by the first guy.

"Hey guys." Kaiden looked at his feet. "I guess you knew, huh." He looked up, the sadness in his eyes overwhelming. "No, dude, we only found out when Percy bragged to us yesterday. Disgusting." The first guy, spat on the pavement, his piercing blue eyes flashing with rage. He had brown hair, and pale skin. The second guy nodded his agreement. "We never like him much anyway. He's a flirt and a trash-ass." The second guy had blond hair, brown eyes and had tanned skin.

"Who are you?" asked the first guy. "I'm Amy, I just moved here, and I'm basically Kaiden's unpaid therapist." She explained the night's events. "Dude, you okay?" asked both guys. Kaiden shrugged. "Not really." The second guy looked at his watch. "Shit we're gonna be late!" The four kids speed-walked down the street.

"By the way, I'm Gus, and the gutter-mouth over there is Alex." The first guy (Gus) told Amy. Amy nodded. "You boys seem cool." Alex winced. Gus noticed, and turned to Amy. "I'm a guy, Alex over there is non-binary." Alex nodded. "If you're looking for a guy, keep on moving." They joked. Amy nodded. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know." Alex waved a hand. "It's fine, you had no way of knowing. You seem cool to, Kaiden's therapist." Kaiden remained silent.

They arrived at the school. It was a double-story building, that looked old and majestic. Students streamed in and out of the ornate double doors. Amy stood, open-mouthed as she took it all in. "You good there?" asked Gus. "I-it's so big." Amy gasped. "My old school was only one story, and way less extravagant." Alex and Gus chuckled. Kaiden remained stationary.

Alex glanced at their watch. "We have ten minutes 'till school starts." "But I thought we were gonna be late?" Amy asked. "If we walked, we might have been cutting it close. With the pace we went at after I warned y'all, we made it with extra time." Gus facepalmed. "You're always melodramatic, aren't you?" Asked an exasperated Gus. Alex shrugged. "It's an art."

Alex looked over Gus's shoulder. They muttered some very creative words under their breath. Gus turned. Kaiden held back a sob. Hazel was standing by a tree, chatting to some girls, holding Percy's hand. Alex stuck a finger down their throat. Gus looked ready to punch something. AMy recognised Hazel and Percy from a picture Kaiden had shown her earlier.

Amy sighed. "So that's the bitch?" She asked. "Don't call her that, she deserved him anyway." Kaiden told her, holding back tears. "You're right on that. Ass-holes belong together." Alex said. "I smell some vigilante justice. Can I join in?" asked Alex, turning to Amy, who was cracking her knuckles. "Amy, don't.." Kaiden started. He looked hurt.

The bell rang, stopping Amy from getting into trouble before school even started. She and Alex looked disappointed that they couldn't beat up Hazel and Percy. Gus looked relieved, and Kaiden stayed quiet. Amy was transferring into the same class as Gus, Alex and Kaiden, and they walked towards the large double doors of the school.
