libraries are scared gardens for the mind, from root to blossom the history of humanity lies within the pages of a book.

the smell of new pages was hermione's favourite. it brought her mind to peace. she could be there all day if she wanted to.

her goal was to have read every book in a category she chose by the end of the school year. her current read was shakespeare, which made her eyes glisten at times as she remembered her mother tucking her in at night while reading the precise book that was on her lap; romeo and juliet. a classic love story that taught her never to settle for less.

minutes turned into hours.

the natural source of light now descending from the windows into shadows from lit candles. hermione had skipped dinner saving herself from the embarrassment of making a fool out of herself in front of her friends.

she could always sneak into the kitchens as being a prefect has it's benefits. she'd almost forgotten mcgonagall had handed the role to her. her straight a's definitely got her somewhere. not as much as her risk taking acts she took for the school as an individual who believed and was determined to fight for the right side.

although the feeling of an empty stomach felt easier to deal with she knew it wouldn't be a healthier choice either. before making a decision she noticed a plate of food with a note two tables down from her.

                                                                       granger,

no one could have possibly left it there on accident. she's been there for hours on end through dinner and curfew. contemplating whether or not to have a decent read of the note and a peek at the sorts of food arranged on the plate she decided to pack up her things and head off to her dorm taking the unknown goods to her dorm.

furrowing her brows in confusion reading the note again. she wasn't scared about someone being there while she was studying but wanting to know who would stay up so late as she did to leave behind a generous amount of food.

the note wasn't signed so she took it that maybe a teacher saw her and left it behind without signing considering they are very private people.
