Note from teacher:
Anatasia really struggles in my class and sometimes refuses to do the work, she is a very bright girl and could have so much more potential if she tried and put effort into studying.

I look over and over the card to make sure my eyes aren’t deceiving me. Anatasia is doing great in everything except math, and I am bound to get to the bottom of it. I wait a little longer until Anatasia gets up. When she finally opens her eyes, I get her out of bed and ready for the long family day up ahead.

Then I take her to the living room and sit her down and sit across from her. She looks up at me knowing we are about to have a very serious talk.
“So, I saw your report card.” I say as she starts to get fidgety. “It all looked good until I saw your math score, what is up with that.” “You have a D and a note that says you are not willing to do the work can you explain that?” I could see her start to tear up.
“Iii juust don’t undersstand it.” She says as she sniffles.

“Honey if you don’t understand it, you just need to ask for help.” I say understanding tone. “But you still need a little punishment, go stand in the corner while I finish getting everything ready.” She nods as she cries harder, she doesn’t like it when I’m disappointed in her. I finish getting everything together and then I go and get Anatasia out of the corner.

I give her a hug and ask her what she needs to start doing.

“I need to ask for help when I need it."

I nod, then we hear a knock on the door.
