"I don't know how much more I can take..!" Hinata shouts, his arms and tail are shaking from the pure strain he was exuding.
"M-me too!" Suga says, starting to sink down further from exhaustment.
"Come on, we have to save them!" Asahi says, his arms and tail also shaking violently. The waves get more rough, making it harder for the mermen to move with the heavy boats. Suga starts sinking farther, before almost getting swept away by the waves. Tears stream down all of the boys' cheeks, so tired from trying to save the men.
"Hey! Guys!" A yell is heard from the calm waters, which is almost 300 yards away from where the mermen are. Suga looks over to the calm waters, seeing Daichi and Tsukishima waving their arms at the mermen.
"Suga go look and see what they want!" Asahi says, trying to pause in the rough seas. Suga lets go of the net, trying to swim as fast as he can over to the humans, seeing what they want.
"What is it?" Suga asks frantically, his whole body shaking.
"We found a rope, if you guys can attach it we can help." Noya shouts, swimming over with a very long coiled up rope. Suga's eyes brighten, seeing how the boys wanted to help save the men.
"Thank you!" Suga shouts, grabbing one end of the rope, trying to swim back to Hinata and Asahi quickly. Noya drops the rope before grabbing onto the end, holding it tightly while Suga swims off.
"Guys! They gave us a rope to tie to the boats so they can help!" Suga shouts, starting to quickly tie the rope to the net. Hinata and Asahi sigh in relief, helping Suga tie the rope to the boats. As soon as it tied, the humans in the calm waters start tugging the boats. Letting the mermen rest. All the mermen grab hands, starting to swim back to the calm waters to rest. All 3 are shaking from over use of their bodies and once they break the barrier of the calm waters, all 3 collapse, shaking on the sandy floor.
"You guys rest, we can do this!" Daichi orders, seeing how the 3 don't look like they would be moving any time soon. Asahi weakly nods, shaking on the floor. Soon, the boys have pulled the boats almost completely out of the raging sea. Hinata and Suga weakly get up, doing their best to get the last stretch of the boats back, letting Asahi rest. As soon as Hinata and Suga tug the rope, the boats finally cross the rough waters, starting to bob lightly in the calm waters. Everyone collapses in a tired mess, the mermen still shaking slightly.
"W-we did it.." Tsukishima pants.
"Hurt..." Hinata says weakly, curling in on himself.
"How often do you guys have to do that?" Daichi asks, panting.
"T-this is the third time we've ever saved a ship.. This crew was the biggest by far..." Asahi pants.
"I'm so sorry you guys have to do this..." Noya says, sitting up to crack his knuckles.
"It's alright.. We don't want anyone to get hurt so we save them." Suga pants, also curling in on himself. Everyone lays in silence on the sandy floor, the water rushing all around them. Time flies quicker than anyone expected, and soon, the mermen are slowly pushing the boats back to shore before any of the dazed men realize what was going on. As soon as the boats were up on shore, several people came running, to find all 15 men in the small boats, looking dazed and only just regaining their senses.
"Oh my god! You're all ok!" A man says, helping the others from the boats.
"H-how did we get back..?" The blond man asks. The mermen stay silent, starting to swim away.
"Momma look!" A little girl exclaims, pointing to the 3 fins in the water. All 3 hear gasps as the mermen peak their heads up from the water.
"Sirens!" Someone shouts.
"If they were Sirens, then wouldn't they have let all these men die?" A woman says, approaching the shoreline. All 3 mermen look at the humans cautiously, very obviously scared of the older humans. The mermen flip down, swimming quickly back down after flashing their fins, a sign for the mermaids that they mean no ill will. As soon as the mermen arrive at the bottom of the sea, they collapse once more, absolutely wiped out from all that had just occurred.
"Are you guys ok..?" Tsukishima asks, swimming over to the collapsed mermen.
"No..." Hinata grumbles. The human boys swim over to the mermen, trying to comfort them as they lay there. Minutes pass, then hours and the moon is starting to peak over the water as the sky grows dark.
"You guys should head home.." Suga says, finally sitting up.
"But you guys are still so tired.. Why don't we help you with some things then we'll leave." Daichi responds
"No we'll be alright.. Just go." Hinata says, barely being able to hoist himself up from the sand.
"No, you can't change our minds, we're helping." Tsukishima says, picking up Hinata swiftly. Daichi does the same to Suga, and Nishinoya helps Asahi get over to where the diviots and softest sands were.
"Ok what do you do before bed?" Tsukishima asks Hinata, setting him down.
"I usually brush mine and Suga's hair.." Hinata mumbles, somewhat upset that he isn't able to do his nightly routine because he's so sore. Tsukishima grabs the hairbrush, starting to brush out the orange tufts.
"So what do you usually do, Suga?" Daichi asks, setting Suga down. Suga points over to the 2 wooden spoons that were right next to Hinata's hairbrush. Confused, Daichi grabs the spoons before handing them to Suga. Although he was sore, Suga was still determined to play the lullaby he always did. Suga starts clicking the spoons together, slower than normal because he was sore, but the music was still pleasant.
