3 months later...
"Asahi!" Noya cheers, swimming quickly into the treasure cave, where Asahi was examining the old treasures.
"Hey Noya, what's up?" Asahi asks, setting down an intricately carved bow and arrow, with the string snapped perfectly in half.
"I got bored, I dunno where Suga is and Hinata's playing music again." Noya complains, watching as the other human boys jump into the water.
"Well I'm just organizing the treasure.. Did you wanna help me?" Asahi asks. Nishinoya nods vigorously, and Asahi hands Noya the bow he was just inspecting.
"Woah..." Noya says, amazed.
"I know, I have no idea how people can do this above water.. Doesn't wood get hard above water?" Asahi asks.
"Yea, it's really hard. That's why we use it for furniture." Noya answers.
"Wow. We always just use rocks that we carved or found. Or the sand." Asahi chuckles.
"Oh, yeah I guess you would get all that much wood down here huh?" Noya asks, going over to another chest and opening it up, just to find old, tattered clothes that had probably washed up to the Lagoon.
"Nope, just pieces that come down from above." Asahi responds, swimming over with Noya to look inside the chest. As the 2 pull out more and more clothes from the trunk, Asahi is looking at them curiously, the pieces he's most curious about are the jackets, they looked so intricate and he couldn't think of any reasonable use for them, as the lagoon stayed relatively the same temperature all year round.
"Hey Noya? What's this for?" Asahi asks, looking at a long winter coat.
"Oh! That's for when it gets really cold, it's thick and keeps you warm." Noya explains, grabbing the jacket and slinging it over his arms.
"You guys need different clothes for when its warm and cold?" Asahi asks.
"Yea, you don't get the shivers when it gets cold?" Noya asks, taking the jacket off and folding it.
"Well, the only spot that gets really cold is past the rockline. Other than that it doesn't really get warmer or cooler in the lagoon." Asahi explains further, going to a big wardrobe, filled with instruments they found in the ships.
"Oh. I guess that kinda makes sense." Noya says, going next to Asahi and looking at all the instruments. As the 2 continue looking at all the things inside the treasure cave, they always end up getting a little closer with each item. Looking at them until eventually, they don't even have to move to show each other something, and are basically on top of each other.
"Hey Asahi..?" Noya asks quietly, a lot different from his usual loud demeanor.
"Yes Noya?" Asahi responds, looking down at the smaller boy. After another moment of silence, Noya finally quickly turns into Asahi hugging him tightly and talking so fast, Asahi could barely process.
"I fell in love with you and I want to be lovers with you so please date me please!" Noya exclaims. It takes Asahi a moment, before he bursts out laughing.
"H-Hey! Why are you laughing!" Noya complains, his face bright red.
"N-nothing! That was just.. Really sweet. And cute." Asahi says, wrapping his arms around Noya and squeezing him tightly.
"Suga!" Daichi calls, swimming over to Suga who was on kelp duty for the day.
"Oh! Daichi!" Suga calls back, armfuls of kelp. Daichi finally makes it over to Suga, and takes some of the kelp away from him.
"Thank you, it was starting to get heavy." Suga laughs.
"Of course, it's the least I could do." Daichi chuckles back. As the 2 quietly start looking for more kelp, Daichi can't help but keep glancing back at Suga. Everytime Suga found a particularly foul smelling bundle of kelp, his nose would scrunch up adorably, making Daichi snicker. 'God you're adorable.. Wait what?' Daichi thinks, making himself flustered. After a good hour, Suga and Daichi finally have enough kelp for the next few days.
"Thank you so much for the help Daichi!" Suga cheers, placing the kelp into a large basket, where the mermaids treat the kelp before eating it.
"Of course, it's the least I could do." Daichi says again, placing the kelp in the basket as well. Suga looks around, just to see Noya and Asahi, both inspecting objects inside the treasure cave, and Hinata playing his harp for Tsukishima.
"Well, they're all doing something, did you wanna go find something to do?" Suga asks.
"Yea, lets go find something to do." Daichi agrees, following Suga as the grey haired merman takes Daichi's hand to go swim off to the rockline, thinking it would be fun to watch all the waves from it. As they approach the rough sea, Suga sits in the sand just far enough away to where he won't get swept away, Daichi sitting right next to him.
"Ya know, if you can ignore the rough waters.. The rockline is actually really nice." Daichi comments, not staring out at the sea like Suga, but staring at the merman himself.
"I agree." Suga sighs, looking content with himself. After about 5 minutes of the 2 boys sitting in the sand quietly, Daichi taps Suga's shoulder.
"Suga..?" Daichi asks.
"Yes Daichi?" Suga responds, tearing his eyes away from the sea. Daichi doesn't say a word, but slowly moves in towards Suga, who blushes slightly, just before their lips meet together, and they share a kiss. Pulling back, it's like they didn't even need to ask each other, Suga hugs Daichi tightly. Daichi holds onto his new lover back, and both explode with happiness on the inside.
"'Farewell, Farewell.' said the swallow, with a heavy heart, as he left the warm countries to fly back to Denmark. Where there he found a nest, above a window, in which welt the writer of fairy tales. The swallow sang 'Tweet tweet!' and from his song, came the whole story." Hinata reads, finishing off Thumbelina and looking up from the book, just to see his brothers asleep, and the human boys struggling to stay awake. Hinata giggles, quietly setting his book down to help the other boys back up to shore.
"Man.. These stories are always so amazing.." Noya yawns.
"I know, so many memories of mom putting us to sleep." Daichi chuckles.
"Too bad we're too old to ask for that now." Tsukishima says. Hinata smiles, watching as Noya and Daichi swim up to their boat, but Tsukishima staying for a moment.
"Thank you for reading to us, Hinata. You're not always so loud." Tsukishima pokes.
"U-uhm.. Tsukki?" Hinata mumbles, looking a bit shy.
"Yea?' Tsukishima responds, confused at what got Hinata so nervous. Hinata picks up the storybook again, holding it carefully before holding it out towards Tsukishima.
"You said you missed the stories.. A-and that you didn't have a copy of them anymore.. So if you promise to be really careful.. Did you want to borrow my book?" Hinata offers. Tsukishima stares at Hinata for a moment, shocked that Hinata was offering to let Tsukishima borrow something so important to him.
"R-really? You'd let me borrow it?" Tsukishima asks. Hinata nods, a sincere but shy smile spread across his lips. Tsukishima carefully takes the book, running his fingers over the leathery cover.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" Hinata asks.
"Y-yea! See you tomorrow." Tsukishima responds, trying to hide the excitement in his voice. 'God.. I'm falling for you Hinata..' Tsukishima thinks to himself.
