Weeks later...

"No, we have to leave now." Daichi says, trying to push Suga off of him.

"Noooo! Stay and hang out with us! It's gonna be so lonely without you guys!" Suga complains. Daichi, Tsukishima and Noya have been spending all of their time underwater with the 3 mermen, helping them with chores, hanging out, playing games, and other random things, but today, the sailors in training are going off on a trip, leaving the mermen alone for almost a month.

"What are we gonna do while you guys are gonnneee." Hinata complains, doing the same thing as Suga and holding onto Tsukishima.

"You guys have each other! You could go exploring again and do whatever else you guys want to do." Tsukishima lists, trying to pry Hinata's arms off of him.

"Are you sure you guys aren't gonna get hurt? What if your ship crashes? Are you guys sure you'll be safe?!" Asahi frets, swimming around frantically.

"We'll be fine you guys! Besides, we have your scales so we can breathe underwater." Noya says.

"The time limit ends tomorrow for my scales, and you can't take them out of the water or they won't work." Asahi explains, getting more frantic.

"Oh... Well shit." Daichi says, giving up on prying Suga off him and just sitting down.

"Can't we just have another now before we leave?" Tsukishima suggests, also huffing and sitting down.

"Doesn't work like that either, you either have to take them new or back to back." Suga explains. The humans go quiet again, they were leaving in only a few hours and without the water breathing ability, they knew that the mermen would freak out. Asahi goes completely silent, looking somewhat embarrassed about what he just thought about.

"Are you alright Asahi?" Noya asks, seeing Asahi get quiet.

"W-well.. I had an idea but it.. It's really weird.." Asahi mumbles.

"What is it?" Daichi asks. Hinata thinks for a moment, before turning red, realizing what Asahi was talking about. Asahi looks over at Hinata, noticing that he realized what he was talking about.

"What's the mat- oh.. OH." Suga responds, finally catching on.

"What? Don't keep us in the dark." Tsukishima complains, wanting to know what's got Hinata so flustered.

"W-well... Uhm.. I can kiss someone and they will breathe underwater forever." Hinata says quickly, getting embarrassed.

"Wait what? ... OH." Daichi says, turning a bright shade of red, realizing what the mermen were thinking.

"What?" Noya says confused, Tsukishima catches on, blushing and staying silent.

"What they were suggesting was that Hinata would kiss us so we could breathe underwater forever." Tsukishima finally says. Noya starts blushing, hearing the proposal. Everyone sits there embarrassed for a few minutes, but after everyone has calmed down, they start talking.

"I mean.. It'd be a smart idea.. You guys wouldn't have to use your scales to let us breathe underwater anymore." Daichi says.

"Yea it's just the way to do it is kinda embarrassing.." Noya mumbles.

"Well, it's completely up to Hinata. He's the one with the power." Suga says, looking over to the quiet ginger.

"I mean.. I wouldn't mind but I'll probably be red for the next hour." Hinata jokes. Everyone chuckles before agreeing to have Hinata kiss them so they can breathe underwater.

"Ok so we have to kiss for about 10 seconds for it to work.. A-and you have to kiss back.. So uhm.. Yea.. That.." Hinata mumbles, being extremely awkward.

"Alright.. Uhm.. who's going first? That sounds so wrong to say.." Daichi says, getting very embarrassed.

"Let's just get this over with!" Noya shouts, swimming up to Hinata. Hinata grabs Noya by the back, bringing him close before kissing Noya. Noya looks shocked as Hinata kisses him, but kisses back so it will work. After a good 10 seconds, Hinata pulls back from Noya, extremely red.

"O-ok.. It should work now.. Can I check?" Hinata asks.

"How can you check?" Noya asks, also red.

"Well, it's a bit different when I do it then if it was a scale.. On the back of your neck should be a gill like slit." Hinata says. Noya turns around, letting Hinata see the back of his neck. "Yep it's there." Hinata says, grazing his finger over the small slit.

"So I basically have a gill now?" Noya asks.

"More or less yea." Hinata chirps.

"Ok so.. Who's next?" Suga asks.

"I.. I guess I can." Daichi says, going up to Hinata. Hinata nods, swimming towards Daichi, before getting slightly annoyed at how tall he is.

"Why are you people so tall.." Hinata grumbles, having to swim up slightly just to reach Daichi's face.

"You're just short." Tsukishima laughs. Hinata rolls his eyes before grabbing Daichi by the neck and kissing him. Daichi kisses back, letting Hinata do his thing and 10 seconds later, Hinata pulls back. Daichi turns around for Hinata, letting him see the gill-like slit on his neck.

"Ok Tsukishima, your turn." Noya says.

"This feels so weird.." Daichi says, a dusty pink on his cheeks.

"Still.. I'd rather this be kinda awkward than you guys drown." Hinata says, swimming up to Tsukishima.

"Still doesn't make it less weird." Tsukishima scoffs.

"Do you want to drown or not." Hinata says, swimming right in front of Tsukishima's face.

"Whatever, no I don't.. Can we just hurry up please." Tsukishima huffs, his cheeks turning red.

"Fine, fine." Hinata says, doing the same thing as Daichi and grabbing Tsukishima by the neck. Hinata pulls Tsukishima close before kissing him softly. Tsukishima kisses back, placing a hand on Hinata's waist. Both kiss each other, and 10 seconds go by, then 15, then 20. Everyone around the 2 snicker, seeing how they haven't pulled back yet.

"Hey Hinata, it's been more than ten seconds." Suga says snickering. Hinata and Tsukishima pull back, a blush across their cheeks.

"L-let me see the gill." Hinata mumbles, grabbing Tsukishima's shoulders and turning him around. Hinata traces his finger over the new gill on Tsukishima's neck before swimming back to his fellow mermen, completely red.

"So we are alright now? No need to worry?" Daichi clarifies.

"We will still worry regardless, but not worry about drowning no." Asahi says.

"Why are you guys even so concerned? We do this a lot." Noya asks.

"W-well, you're the first friends we've had in a long time... We don't wanna lose you guys.." Suga admits shyly.

"Yea.. Sure we're important to each other, but we actually have friends..." Hinata mumbles.

"Well we promise to come back just fine. We won't leave or anything." Tsukishima says, chuckling.

"You better!" Hinata exclaims.

"Ok we have to get going now, we'll see you in a month." Daichi says, starting to swim away.

"Wait! Before you guys go." Asahi starts swimming over to Noya. Suga swims over to Daichi and Hinata does the same to Tsukishima. All 3 wrap their arms round the humans, giving them a tight hug before kissing their cheeks.

"Good luck!" Suga says giggling. The other boys flush red as Hinata, Suga and Asahi swim away quickly.
