Hua Cheng and Xie Lian were traveling, but decided to stop by a small town to rest. They paid for an inn room and decided to go out to eat.

"What would gege like to eat?" Hua Cheng asked, turning to Xie Lian who was walking beside him.

"Hm, let's get some dumplings?" Xie Lian suggested. It was nighttime, so there weren't a lot of people out, but there were still a few couples walking around just like they were.

"Alright," Hua Cheng agreed and they both walked to a dumpling stand. They got their dumplings and sat down on a nearby bench, enjoying the dumplings and each other's company.

"Thank you San Lang," Xie Lian smiled.

"Anything for you gege," Hua Cheng smiled back. Just then, a man ran into the village screaming and waving his arms around. Xie Lian was startled by this and stood up to go to the man, followed by Hus Cheng.

When Xie Lian approached the man, the man clung to Xie Lians shoulders, the man was looking down but droplets of water were falling down the mans face.

'Tears?' Xie Lian thought. Hua Cheng grabbed the mans wrist and pulled him off of Xie Lian. The man looked up and he was indeed crying.

"Sir, why are you crying?" Xie Lian questioned.

"M-My wife!" The man cried, collapsing onto his knees and burying his face in his hands.

"Can you tell me what exactly happened?" Xie Lian asked, putting a comforting hand on the mans shoulder.

"We were walking, and she saw something and walked ahead by a few feet, and then a tree fell on her! It was too heavy so I had to run here as quick as I could to get help" The man bawled, trembling on the ground.

"I can help you lift the tree," Xie Lian offered. The man looked up.

"You- You will?" The man hiccuped, looking up to face Xie Lian, tears still running down the mans face.

Xie Lian smiled and nodded. "Of course,"

The man hugged Xie Lian. "May I know your name?" The man asked.

"Xie Lian, may I know yours?" Xie Lian asked.

"Duan Kun," the man answered, wiping his face with his sleeve. Xie Lian helped the man up.

"I'll show you where my wife is," the man said, turning back in the direction he came and started walking.

"San Lang are you coming?" Xie Lian asked, turning to face Hua Cheng.

"Of course," Hua Cheng answered. Xie Lian and Hua Cheng followed the man into the woods. After about 20 minutes of walking, they came to a clearing in the woods. And sure enough, there was a tree and a black cloth sticking out from under it, and a woman crying.

"Someone! Anyone! Help me!" The woman wailed.

"I'm here! I'm here!" Duan Kun shouted, running to the fallen tree, getting on his hands and knees, trying to move it to no avail. Xie Lian walked over to help the man, but tripped over something. As soon as he hit the ground, he felt a sharp pain in his neck.

He winced and pulled out whatever was in his neck, it was a silver needle. He threw it to the side and tried to get back up, but felt dizzy and fell over again.

"Gege?" He heard Hua Cheng ask, he sounded far away, like a whisper. Xie Lian then heard maniacal laughing.

"HAHAHAHAHA YOU FOOL," a deep voice said from in front of him. The images of the Duan Kun, his wife, and the tree melted away into mud, and a black shadow formed out of that mud into a humanoid. It had no features other than it looked human.

The creature started to crawl towards Xie Lian, but was stopped when E Ming sliced through the creature. The creature shrieked but formed itself back together and started laughing again.

Xie Lian tried to get up again, but fell. He was getting tired. "Ruoye, go help San Lang," Xie Lian murmured, Ruoye slipping from his hand and charging towards the creature.

Hua Cheng ran to Xie Lian and held him in his arms. With every slice E Ming took on the creature, it appeared to grow stronger. Hua Cheng had an idea.

He took some sticks and rubbed them together, creating a fire. He threw the small fire at the creature, and the creature blazed up. Multiple shrieks were heard and the creature was turned to ash.

Hua Cheng pulled Xie Lian back into his arms, shaking him a bit. "Gege?" Hua Cheng called out. When Xie Lian didn't answer, Hua Cheng kissed him to transfer spiritual energy. The spiritual energy wasn't transferring, Xie Lians body was rejecting the spiritual energy. Hua Cheng panicked.

"Dianxia?!" Hua Cheng called out again, tears threatening to spill over. He took out the dice and rolled them, opening a gate to ghost city. He rushed to paradise manor, demanding to see a doctor.

Xie Lian had been poisoned, it's a new poison demons are making to combat against gods, luckily Hua Cheng took him back in time and Xie Lian can be saved. The doctor gave Xie Lian the antidote and laid him to rest in Xie Lian and Hua Cheng's room.

When Xie Lian woke up, Hua Cheng was sitting on the bed next to him. When Hua Cheng saw him open his eyes, he immediately hugged Xie Lian.

"San Lang? What's wrong?" Xie Lian gasped, hugging back.

"I...thought I lost you. Your body wasn't excepting the spiritual energy, I- I- didn't know what to do. I was so scared Dianxia," Hua Cheng cried, burying his face on the top of Xie Lians head.

"Shhh shhh, San Lang it's ok, I'm ok now," Xie Lian soothed, he pulled him back on the bed, embracing him  so that Hua Cheng's chin was on the top of Xie Lians head, he started stroking Hua Cheng's back.

"I shouldn't have let that thing touch you," Hua Cheng growled.

"We didn't know, don't blame yourself." Xie Lian said, combing his fingers through Hua Cheng's hair.

"Please, don't leave me again." Hua Cheng whispered. Xie Lian cuddling closer to Hua Cheng.

"I won't, and never will." Xie Lian promised, tilting his head up to kiss Hua Cheng. They fell asleep in each other's embrace.
