Chapter 1: How we met

*Unkown POV*

I opened my eyes to the golden sun rising. I groaned because here's the thing about me, is that I am not a morning person at all. But I have to get up or Pa and Curley are gonna give me hell. I looked over to see my best friend's bunks, I smiled as I remembered the days we met.

*Unknown POV*

I was running through the house I grew up in. There is a small breeze running through my short hair. Why I'm running, well because I'm asking my Pa if I can go into the town 10 miles from the ranch with the workers. I got to my Pa's work office where he got gets some paperwork done. I knocked two times before I walked. Instead of just being my Pa, there are two people and a dog. One old guy who look like he was in his 60s and a girl who looked like she was around my age. Their dog looks like it's an Australian shepherd dog. The old one doesn't have two but one arm. He's wearing a flannel shirt with overalls over it. The girl is wearing a cowboy hat, an orange scarf around her neck, a blue shirt with a long pink skirt, with some brown cowboy boots. "What are you doing here Coral?" Pa asking. " I was gonna ask yer' something, but it seems you're interviewing with some people" I explained. " Well...alright Coral this is Candy Webber and his granddaughter Ari Webber" Pa introduced, " This is my daughter Coral." During his introduction, Ari smiled at me and then wave at me, and then I smiled happily that I might finally get a friend I always wanted since I was five. "Hey Coral sweetie, can you show these folks around so I can finish up my paperwork?" Pa asked. " Sure thing Pa" I accept. " thank you, sweetheart, now can you get out" he demanded. I gesture 'them to follow me and they start walking towards me after Mr.Webber told his dog to come along. " alright Mr. and Ms. Webber-" "Please call us by the first names we don't mind, right grandad" Ari interrupted me. " Hell yea we don't care" Candy agreed to smile at me and I smiled back. As I was showing 'them around, I started to feel safe around them. I know I only met them literally two hours ago and yet I felt like Candy is the grandfather I never met. And I felt like I and Ari had been friends forever. " Oi Coral!" An annoying voice I had known ever since he started talking, my big brother Curley. I turned to see Curley walking towards me and the Webbers. "Who the hell are these folks" Curley demanded as always. I rolled my eyes, " These are the newcomers " I explained "This is Candy Webber and his granddaughter Ari Webber". Curley looked at 'them and then "These guys are the newcomers, heh they're pathetic!" Curley laughed. "Curley!" I exclaimed. " Hey can you blame me, I mean the old man has only one arm". " You'll leave my grandad alone!" Ari spoke up. "Or what cowgirlie" Curley tested her. "Or I'll tell Pa that you won't let giving 'hem a tour around the ranch" I threatened. He glared at me and I glared back. "Tch whatever" Curly backs down knowing that he's gonna be in trouble if I tell Pa that he interrupts my tour " But you folks better stay the hell away from me !" Curley threatens 'hem as he's walking away. " Say Coral who is he?" Candy ask me. " That's my big brother Curley" I explain. "Why he's rude, we didn't do anything to 'im?" Ari questioned. "He's got a big ego because he's the boss's son" I rolled my eyes at the thought of his ego. " Anyway Candy this is gonna be your bunkhouse" I showed Candy his bunkhouse. "Okay but what about Ari, where she's gonna sleep?" Candy puzzled. "Oh she's gonna sleep with me in my bunkhouse" I assured him. "Your bunkhouse?" Ari looked stuck. " I asked my Pa if I can have a bunkhouse on my own, since one I like to be out in the field, two me and Curley shared a room" I  clarify. "Oh alright, well lion  I gotta go ahead get to work because I don't want to get in trouble on my first day" Candy explained to his granddaughter. " Okay grandad take care, bye Shard" Ari saying goodbye to her grandfather, and what I'm guessing is Shard is their dog. Candy smiled and walked off with Shard walking beside him. " Come along now we have to pick a bunk for you," I said excitedly. Ari smiled along with me, then we both ran giggling like little children playing tag. We arrived at the bunkhouse where we are both staying. We went inside and had been hit with some cool breeze. "Well, here we are, the bunkhouse that you are staying for a while," I said being hyped up. " Thanks!" Ari said being grateful. She went over to the bunk next side to me, putting her stuff down. " You wanna know something?" Ari asking me as she began to frown. "What?" I replied confused. " When I saw you came in the boss' room, I was happy that I finally get a friend" Ari clarify, " I never had friends before except my grandad". I smile " your not the only one who needed a friend, a female friend" I assure her. She began to smile again, and I smile back knowing me and her are gonna be good friends.
