3'rd person
His desperation for an answer started to grow bigger, feeling his hands sweating, his hoodie making him feel hot even if the weather was low.
"oh uhm you know... school" Mattia finally said, trying to mask his nervousness with obviousness.
"i guess i can say the same, that was why Kairi was at my place when i called you" Alejandro said, noticing Mattia's body language not matching with his words.
Mattia nodded at his words, now calmed thinking the latter had buyed his words.
They stayed in silence for a few minutes, not an uncomfortable one, but them appreciating their company.
During this, Alejandro looked at the boy up and down, seeing him constantly pushing his sleeves of his hoodie down, noticing his hands, Mattia was know to have veiny hands, which, Alejandro unconsciously admired, but this time they were skinnier, almost skeletal."wanna eat?" Alejandro asked, not even caring to ask if he was hungry, knowing the constant battle he had with him on school.
Flashback
"Mattia please eat something" Alejandro begged, pushing the plate of food back closer to the mentioned
Mattia had no desire on eating the food that was on the plate that day, or any food at all. He had lost his appetite over the whole mental state life was driving him into.
"Ale i said i don't want too" he replied, giving a tired look to the boy in-front of him, yet he knew Alejandro was to stubborn to stop. But he loved his stubbornness, he knew it wasn't a bad one.
"please?" Alejandro asked, tilting his head at Mattia. This didn't left much option to the Italian as he started eating with the utensils he was given. A smile growing on the boy's face.
End of Flashback.
"i kinda want to" said Mattia as he looked at Alejandro besides him. He hadn't changed, not a single bit. His skin remained tan somehow, along with the marked dimples he always liked to show off.
Mattia patted over the pockets of his sweat, realizing he had left his wallet. "fuck— i forgot my wallet, i think i'll pass" admitting things for Mattia was a hard time, almost impossible for him, but he had to admit, he did feel hungry at the moment.
Alejandro laughed at the words of his friend, standing up from the bench as he stretched his hand towards Mattia. "i asked if you were hungry, i didn't asked if you brought your wallet"
A sight of relief along with a chuckle was heard from Mattia, Alejandro seemed to be his savior on repetitive occasions. "man, you're the best you know that?" Mattia said with a side smile.
"i know" Alejandro being his cocky self, he nodded his head as a smile grew on his face. It felt like an accomplishment Mattia had agreed for food, he either didn't wanted food at all, or he wouldn't let someone pay for him.
Mattia didn't do more than grab Alejandro's hand to stand up, laughing at Alejandro as they slowly made their walk. They didn't had to talk about the choice of place, they knew it would end up being Chik-fil-a
30 minutes later
Having to walk their way to the place, they did as they were back on the park, in silence. Mattia admired his surroundings as he didn't went out much, he wasted his time on his room, not by choice, but by orders.
Meanwhile Alejandro walked tightly against his friend, yet he wasn't admiring his surroundings, he admired Mattia. He hadn't seen the boy in a few, yet them having school together which Mattia had been not going to.
"Why haven't you been coming to school?" Alejandro asked out of the deep silence they were. This catched the italian unexpectedly, feeling as if someone had pulled him out of his zone out state.
"oh uhm... i haven't feel like it" he answered, shrugging his arms trying to not put importance to it, as he been doing everytime he talked about his situation.
This grew a bigger concern over Alejandro, bigger than the one he already had over Mattia. He had to admit, he knew Mattia wasn't a person to be interested in classes, but he knew he loved to spent any kind of time with his friends.
"that's. . . weird of you"
Mattia tried to kept his nervousness unknown, indeed it was weird. He used school to have a reason, or an excuse to get out of the hell he had to call house. Imagine him, going to school on the least important day, they probably wouldn't even get classes, yet he would go.
"i just... been trying to catch some sleep, school was getting too much"
Mattia said, keeping his hands down on his pocket as they walk, turning his face onto the road trying to not show any sign of lies on his words.
Alejandro knew that things on Mattia's house had changed ever since his mom died, something that seemed to hit Mattia with a much bigger impact than expected.
Ever since that happened, he realized how much of a change Mattia had given, there's when he started to get worried about him. Or to say, even more worried.
"and? have you?" Alejandro asked, trying to get to known the well-being of his friend.
Mattia tilted his head side to side, a small pout on his lips as he thought of an answer. Of course he hadn't got any, maybe even less that what he was sleeping before.
"i could say yeah, still not enough for me" he said with a laugh, the first one he had let out throughout their whole meetup.
Soon enough they've arrived to the establishment, Mattia opening the door first, yet letting Alejandro go in first. The latter went under his arm, thanking him as he shacked the cold of New Jersey.
"what will you get?" Alejandro asked once both of them got to the ordering area. Even tho they knew their usual order, they still took a look at the outdated menu.
"agh... i'll just get my usual" he said simply, looking down at the one besides him, his arms now crossed over his chest. "what will you get?" Mattia asked this time.
"well, i'll just get my usual too" he answered back with a laugh, one that Mattia couldn't take his eyes away, almost too distracting to not realize the cashier as it had been calling them.
