Two updates in one day, you're welcome. Thank you all for your sweet comments. They make my day :)
I know this is short, but I mean, at least it's a second update, right?
Chapter 8The tree branches were starting to become seldom and far between as I jumped towards the outside of the arena, and that only seemed to encourage the Alpha to run faster.
To be quite honest, I'm not sure why he was chasing me. There was absolutely no possible way I could be his mate, I couldn't be Luna to a pack. I saw what my mother did, she was basically a second Alpha. I didn't have that kind of backbone. And this Alpha needed a girl with backbone.
This has to be some sort of mistake, I mused as I jumped another branch. But , as usual, my thoughts distracted me and my foot slipped, pummeling me towards the ground, until I was able to catch onto the very branch I slipped on as I fell.
With my feet dangling off the branch and my arms holding on for dear life I realized the bad position I was in. I was high up in a tree, which was slippery from being covered in snow, with a rabid Alpha wolf beneath me.
The perfect position to be in if you're trying not to get caught. Obviously.
I tried to wiggle my way back up the branch, but with the snow on it the job became virtually impossible.
"Just come down, you wild cat. You're not going to have much more space to jump at this point anyways."
I took a look down towards the ground and saw the intimidating Alpha standing arms crossed, face in a scowl looking up at me.
"How about you stop fucking chasing me, then I won't have to worry about running out of places to jump!"
His growl was menacing, but at this point his anger was the least of my worries. He would kill me if I wasn't his mate anyways, what's the point.
"Let. Go."
I rolled my eyes.
"Okay, two problems with that. One, I'm pretty damn far up here, so I could break many bones doing that. Second, I'm trying to not get caught by you, so obviously I'm not going to jump down."
He snorted.
"How long do you think you'll be able to hang up there anyways, Wild Cat? I give you two more minutes before you fall. And I'll be right here to catch you."
"In that case, I'll be sure to break my neck on the way down. Before you can do it for me!"
"Ugh, you had to make it difficult."
The tree started to shake. I chanced a look down to see two wolves on each side of the tree shaking it. And whatever the Alpha had planned was working, because my grip on the tree was loosening, and soon enough I began to fall.
It took a while of hitting branches before I hit the floor, or what I thought was the floor. What it turned out to be was actually my worst nightmare, I wrestled out of the Alphas grasp and started stalking backwards until my back hit a tree.
"Shawn, Jackson, leave us and go alert the pack that the Luna has been found." He said with a serious look on his face.
I stayed where I was, weighing my options of escape. Realistically I could run in almost any directions but I knew he would follow.
He stalked towards me, and I shifted to the right, causing him to let out a low growl.
"Don't even try it."
He stepped closer and closer until we were almost nose to nose, and he breathed in my scent and growled.
"Mine."
