Oh hey look, I'm not dead. Weird...

Promise I won't be one of those writers who just stops writing stories out of the blue. I'll at least tell you first. I fully intend to finish this story, it just may take me a while.
Thank you for sticking with me.

Dedicated to those of you who have been waiting. I adore you.

Chapter 10

I stared at him in silence, waiting for further elaboration. His determined gaze began to turn into one of confusion and he started to raise from his crouch.

"You're not running?" He asked.

I shrugged, and raised an eyebrow at him.

"Care to explain?"

He scratched his head and tilted it to the side. "Explain what?"

I sighed, exasperated.

"I need you because you're my mate, I feel as though that's rather self explanatory."

Rolling my eyes at him I walked closer to where he stood. "And what of those girls who aren't your mate, or any other males mate in this arena? They aren't important?"

His eyebrows drew together, making him look determined. "They aren't important to me."

"And why is that?" I asked, circling him.

"Because they aren't you, wildcat."

He reached and grabbed my hand, sending a bunch of tingles up my arm and through the rest of my body.

"You know, I'm not really all that wild."

He smirked. "Well it doesn't appear as though you're very wild anymore."

I laughed and leaned close to him, lips grazing his ear, standing on my tip toes to reach him.

"Well, maybe I am. A bit wild at least."

I gently pulled my hand from him and put my arms around him.

"Race you?"

His smile grew and his eyes lit up.

"Of course, my gorgeous girl."

I smiled wickedly up at him and my hands finished the job they were completing behind his back.

"Okay, bye!"

I ran off as fast as I could, shifting into my wolf to gain speed and hopefully to blend it amongst the snow.

I had used some supplies from my pack, some lightweight twins sort of natural that's meant to be used for fishing, a clear material. He hadn't even noticed as I circled him and tied the restraint behind his back.

I wasn't under the impression it would hold him back long, but hopefully long enough.

"Wildcat! Get back here----oomf!"

Yeah, or not.

I ran for a good 5 or 6 minutes with no trace of a scent coming from around me. Suspicious, I slowed down my pace to a trot, trying to hear footsteps coming from behind me. Or in any direction, really. I'm sure he would have mind linked his whole pack to look for me.

Nothing. The arena was completely quiet.

So I was being stalked then, that's how he was going to do this.

Follow me around all quiet like a stalker then pounce when I least expect it.

I shifted back to human, trying to cover myself amongst the trees.

"I know what game you're playing." I spoke out to the emptiness.

"It's pretty cute, you know. First lesson, werewolf 101. Make the prey think they're safe, then pounce."

Nothing at all, no responses.

"It's adorable, really."

Again, nothing.

"Fine then, I can play the silent game. I'm actually really good at this game. I always won it when I played with my sister as a kid."

I shifted back to my wolf and started to slowly jog through the forest, every so often looking around for the Alpha.

After 2 hours, there was still nothing. No sign of anything living, but even a scouting male.

Had he maybe just left me? Maybe he couldn't get out of the binding? Maybe he's plotting to kill me...

No, none of those could be true. That would make for a pitiful Alpha male.

I almost contemplated turning around, but I stopped that thought before it could even fully form.

My wolf was already attaching herself to him, which was fantastic. Soon enough he would be able to does to me through the pack link. Hurrah.

That's if he ever speaks to me again, I thought to myself.

Geez, Paige, what's wrong with you. One minute you hate him the next you're mad that he isn't chasing you. You really are indecisive as hell, Dads right.

I flopped down onto the doorway floor, letting the cold snow cool my body from the running.

I was tired, and I didn't think the Alpha was going to make his surprise attack anytime soon. Maybe not even at all.

Who cares at this point. I just wanted to go home.
